Ahsoka’s Eye of Sion teases the return of one of the coolest Star Destroyers ever, one that even dwarfs Darth Vader’s Executor.
Starring Rosario Dawson as the titular Ahsoka Tano, the former Jedi has teamed up with her apprentice Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) to stop the evil Grand Admiral Thrawn from returning. However, they have to face Thrawn’s agent, Lady Morgan Elsbeth, who has a secret way of bringing Thrawn back to the galaxy.
What is the way? And how will they stop her?
Ahsoka episode 3 reveals a shocking twist: Lady Morgan has constructed the Eye of Sion, a colossal device that orbits the world of Seatos. She has also hired ruthless allies like the Dark Jedi Baylan Skoll, his pupil Shin Hati, and the former Imperial Inquisitor Marrok to build a formidable army.
Moreover, a new Star Wars theory proposes that the Eye of Sion could have the power to resurrect more than just Thrawn, who is touted as the main villain and was exiled to another galaxy after his defeat in Star Wars: Rebels.
Now, Ahsoka and Sabine face the impossible challenge of stopping this tsunami of threats from another galaxy!
With the help of the Jedi droid Huyang, Ahsoka and Sabine manage to scan the ancient Eye of the Sion while dodging Elsbeth’s forces in a fierce space battle. Their ship is damaged, but they make it to the surface of the forest covered Seatos, where Huyang reveals his astonishing findings.
The Eye of Sion is not just a relic but a colossal hyperspace ring that can take them to new galaxies! Huyang also confirms that the sheer scale of the Eye of Sion allows it to zoom across galaxies just like the trilogy’s hyperspace rings that helped Jade starfighters to jump from one galaxy to another.
Similarly, the ancient star map recovered by Sabine and Ahsoka and stolen by Morgan’s agent has shown Elsbeth the route to Peridea, where Thrawn is expected to be in exile.
However, Thrawn isn’t alone and surely isn’t the only enemy Ahsoka Tano will have to deal with.
The series finale of Star Wars Rebels showed how Ezra Bridger saved Lothal from the Empire’s grip by using his connection with the space-faring purrgil. He and Thrawn were whisked away by these star whales to a different galaxy, leaving behind their friends and foes.
However, it is crucial to note that they were not alone in their journey. Thrawn and Bridger had the company of Thrawn’s Star Destroyer, the Chimaera, and its loyal crew caught in the purrgil’s jump. The Eye of Sion is so huge that it seems possible for Thrawn’s Star Destroyer to fit inside its giant hyperspace ring. This could mean that the ship and its commander could potentially return to the galaxy along with a crew of 10,000 soldiers.
If Grand Admiral Thrawn returns with such a powerful force, this would have severe consequences for Ahsoka and the known galaxy.
You might think that the Empire’s biggest and baddest Star Destroyer was Darth Vader’s Executor. However, there was another Destroyer that was even more terrifying and gigantic: the Chimaera, commanded by the brilliant and ruthless Grand Admiral Thrawn.
What makes the Chimaera so unique? Well, for one thing, it has a huge three-headed snake (a mythical creature called Chimaera) painted on its belly. It is Thrawn’s symbol, a sign of his alien heritage and his cunning mind.
The Chimaera was not just any Star Destroyer. It was Thrawn’s personal flagship, customized with extra firepower and a distinctive command tower.
It would be a terrifying sign of the Empire’s comeback if it ever returned with Thrawn at the helm. And who knows how many loyal Imperials it could carry, ready to join Thrawn’s new regime as the “Heir to the Empire.”
