Exclusive Skin Effects in Zenless Zone Zero: All Characters and Their W-Engine

Zenless Zone Zero is a cyber-punk-themed semi-open world gacha game worth checking out. The environment is absolutely stunning, with bright colors and well-designed characters. Speaking about characters, there’s something even more amazing. 

Each character in the game has its exclusive skin effects, which are quite different and a new experience compared to other Hoyoverse games.

1. How to unlock exclusive skin effects in Zenless Zone Zero?

Players can unlock exclusive skin effects by equipping them with their signature W-Engine in Zenless Zone Zero. These effects are not permanent and can be triggered by EX Special Attack, Assist, Chain Attack, or Ultimate. 

The exclusive skin effect only makes the character look cool and doesn’t increase their damage stats. 

Note

To enable an exclusive skin:

1. Open a character’s menu and go to Equipment.

2. If you have equipped that character’s exclusive W-Engine at least once, you will notice a switch below.

3. Press the switch. When the switch is in the UP position, the skin is enabled. When it’s in the DOWN position, the skin is disabled.

Once you have unlocked a character’s exclusive skin, you can equip a non-signature W-Engine and still use the exclusive skin. However, you must first equip a character’s signature W-Engine at least once.

When Ellen uses her EX-Skill, some part of her hair becomes red and glows. This effect wears off when her Skill animation is over.

The signature W-Engines can be spotted by checking out their passive compared to the character. The stats and passive of W-Engines always benefit the character they are made for. Players can get W-Engines from events, the exchange shop, and by pulling on banners.

3. About Zenless Zone Zero

Zenless Zone Zero is a free-to-play action role-playing game developed and published by HoYoverse. The game was released on Windows, iOS, Android, and PlayStation 5 on July 4, 2024.

In Zenless Zone Zero, the player assumes the role of a Proxy (the protagonist known as Wise or Belle), a character who helps others explore the hostile alternate dimensions called Hollows. As they advance, the Proxy will recruit new members to their party as they continue fighting Ethereal and other enemies. In addition to the Proxy, players also use assistants known as Bangboos.
