On Monday, Ex-Arm TV anime’s official website revealed the main staff for its January 2021 premiere.
The anime was delayed to “fall 2020 or later” due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The anime was supposed to premiere in July. Crunchyroll will stream the anime as a Crunchyroll Original series.
In addition to the release date, it is also confirmed that the series was made with 3DCG animation technique at the Japanese studio Visual Flight.
Ex-Arm is based on Hi-Rock’s manga, illustrated by Shinya Komi and has fourteen tankobon volumes so far.
The story became immensely popular after its initial release. This popularity has made the anime adaptation a highly anticipated one.
The crime battle story centers around a high school student, Akira Natsume.
Only his brain is saved when he is involved in a traffic accident, and it later becomes part of an advanced weapon. Akira cooperates with the police’s EX-ARM countermeasure division to regain his lost memories and body.
The voice actors involved in this futuristic cyberpunk story are:
⦁ Soma Saito as Akira Natsume
⦁ Mikako Komatsu as Minami Uezono
⦁ Akari Kito as Arma
Komi launched the manga with HiRock’s story in Shueisha’s Grand Jump magazine in February 2015 as a remake of his earlier EX-VITA manga.
The series moved to the Shonen Jump website and app in December 2017 and ended in June 2019.
As for the staff, the director Yoshikatsu Kimura will direct at the new animation studio, Visual Flights, following the script by Tommy Morton.
Both of them and the animation studio are making their debut with this series.
For the animation studio, this is the first anime ever, so the use of 3DCG could be a double-edged sword.
Before evaluating the work quality, we will have to wait for the first official trailer, scheduled for the last third of 2020.
