The manga is about boys and girls who have met each other when the world is crumbling into despair. They decide to raise a rebellion against the world that has sunken into the depths of cruelty.

Atsushi Kaneko’s works have always shown a heavy influence of pop art and mixtures of different styles, which is evident in Bambi.

According to him, these styles are a result of the impact of the number of movies that he has watched. He also had the ambition to become a movie director, and that has rubbed off on his works.

The latest work of Kaneko was his Search and Destroy manga, which was serialized in 2018. It was planned to have a total of 18 chapters and ended in 2019.

SOIL by Kaneko also inspired a live-action television series in 2010. Two of his works, Soil(2004) and Wet Moon(2011), were nominated in the Angoulême International Comics Festival in France in the Best Crime Comic category.
