To this day, God Of War 2018 remains one of the biggest and best titles on the PlayStation consoles, and Kratos has become a mascot on the same level as Crash Bandicoot and Nathan Drake for Sony exclusives. But recent evidence may soon change that exclusive part.
Yesterday we talked about the studio handling the PC port for 2018’s God Of War. While some Sony fanboys felt betrayed that an exclusive was making its way onto another platform, many agreed it was a great marketing move. The game is now available to an entirely new audience who may be tempted to purchase a Sony console in preparation for the release of the sequel God Of War: Ragnarok next year.
Studio Jetpack Interactive will be handling the PC port of the previous game, not Santa Monica. Santa Monica will be overseeing the port, as neither they nor Sony would allow a bad port for one of its most important franchises to see the light of day. But it seems that the porting process may go beyond just God Of War 2018.
After the reveal of Jetpack’s involvement, people started to dig through the company’s LinkedIn. They discovered an employee named Warren Lee who has listed God Of War: Ragnarok as his project, and this can mean one of two things.
The first, and maybe most likely, is that it is a human error. Lee could have made a mistake and typed Ragnarok after God Of War. The second outcome, and the more interesting one, could be that Jetpack Interactive will be handling a PC port of God Of War: Ragnarok side by side with God Of War.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind about this. It by no way means that PC players will have access to God Of War: Ragnarok at launch, such as how many rumors have suggested that the Bloodborne PC port is complete but is being held back.
The second point of interest is to do with Sony’s acquisition of porting studio Nixxes early this year. Many fans wondered why it was Jetpack doing the God Of War port and not the studio Sony has acquired, but this recent revelation could mean that Sony and Jetpack has a contract for the studio to handle all God Of War PC ports. It seems odd, but we don’t have a complete picture either, and if it helps to speed up PlayStation ports, then it’s excellent for Sony regardless.
For now, PC gamers can expect to enjoy the first installment in the reboot of the God Of War franchise, and time will tell if and when they will get Ragnarok.
About God of War(2018)
Developed by Santa Monica Studios, God of War is a single-player action-adventure game. Unlike the previous installments of the franchise that deals with Greek mythology, this installment is set in Norse lore.
Before dying, Kratos’ second wife’s last wish is for her to be cremated at the highest peak of the nine realms. Therefore, with his son, Atreus, Kratos embarks on a difficult journey teeming with monsters and gods to fulfill his wife’s final request.
