For veteran Star Wars fans, there is nothing better than diving into films and TV shows that explore the Star Wars lore and history. This is why many folks find the concept of The Bad Batch super riveting and are curious to know more about it.
It is centered round the “defective” Clone Force 99, whose genetic modifications allow them to have free will and defy the Empire’s many brutal commands, including Order 66. However, viewers will find that there’s another character stealing the spotlight: Omega!
Omega is a female clone created on Kamino, along with the rest of the clone troopers. In Season 1, she is deeply inspired by Clone Force 99 and strives to work with them. The mystery of her true identity is one of the driving plotlines of the season.
So, the reason that Omega is such a huge part of the main Bad Batch lineup is that although she appears to be like any other clone, she is actually super special and vital to the Clone Force 99. Let’s dig in deeper!
Omega’s Origins Explained: Is she is a “pure” clone?
Omega was created in the private laboratory of Kaminoan scientist Nala Se. Like most clone troopers on Kamino, she too was built from the genetic template of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett. However, the main difference is that Omega is an unmodified clone with enhancements.
When we are introduced to her in Season 1, she’s shown to be a medical assistant being pursued by different adversaries. One can’t help but notice that although she’s supposed to be like any of the other clone troopers created on Kamino, she’s very different.
The most obvious difference is that she’s female, while all the other clones are males. The second bit is that her hair is stark white in contrast to the clones’ dark manes. Later, Tech explains that this is because she’s an unmodified clone:
I further analyzed Omega’s genetic profile and discovered she has pure, first-generation DNA.

The clone troopers went through many modifications, especially to make them subservient, physically stronger, and age faster. Because of these increasing amounts of changes, the clones no longer had Jango’s original genetic template.
Omega is one of the only two perfect replicas of Jango’s DNA, which is why she’s being chased by so many people in The Bad Batch S1. I’ll let you discover more about this as you watch the show!
As mentioned above, Omega is a “pure” clone of Jango Fett, which means that nothing in her DNA has been altered genetically. In this sense, she is technically Boba Fett’s twin sister, as he is also a pure, unaltered clone of Jango Fett.
So, just as Boba is considered to be Jango’s son, Omega is also his daughter. This also makes Omega and Boba siblings, with many characters describing them as twins. A fun fact here is that Boba’s codename was Alpha, as he was the first pure Jango clone. Omega’s name alludes to her being the last pure Jango clone.
We all know that Jango took care of Boba like his own son and even trained him. But Omega did not share the same fate, having lived all her life on Kamino with the other clone troopers. This is possibly because Jango was never aware of Omega’s existence, or even the fact that another pure clone was created from his DNA.
Does Omega have any powers? Is she force-sensitive?
As of The Bad Batch S1, Omega does not have any special powers, nor is she force-sensitive. This is subject to change in Season 2.
In fact, one could say as an unadulterated form of Jango, she is as “normal” as one can be in clone form. In contrast to the clone troopers, she does not age faster, does not have physical modifications, and retains all her free will.
But it’s possible she has some intelligence-based modifications. In The Bad Batch Ep 10, it is revealed through a chess match that Omega has a computer-like skill for strategizing.
On the Force-sensitive front, the show has kept it very open-ended. But it’s unlikely that they’ll give her this power—mostly because the Empire has never been successful in making clones that are Force-sensitive, as depicted even in the later eras. So, it would be historically inaccurate if Omega turns out to be Force-sensitive. Season 2 may shed some more light!
