Spring 2022’s much-awaited espionage drama has finally made its official anime debut with an absolute banger of a premiere!
Tatsuya Endo’s Spy x Family is already a smash hit, with fans raving about its superb premise, delicately balanced plot, eccentric characters, and peak animation.
It revolves around an elite spy’s undercover mission to prevent chaos from erupting between two superpowers poised precariously in an unrelenting war, all while maintaining the pristine façade of a fake family.
It’s produced by the famous studios behind top hits like Attack on Titan, My Dress-Up Darling, Ranking of Kings, and Fairy Tail – WIT Studio and CloverWorks.

What’s the Plot?
Spy x Family is set amidst a raging information war waged between the empires of Westalis and Ostania.
With the disastrous consequences of a leak of incriminating and defamatory evidence among ruthless criminal bosses and politicians, only covert espionage assures peace.
The plot follows Westalis’ top spy, Twilight, and his most challenging mission yet – Operation Strix. He’s tasked with shadowing the paranoid recluse and National Unity Party leader, Donovan Desmond, in order to prevent him from tampering with the fragile peace between the nations.
But since Donovan only occasionally surfaces during the prominent political gatherings at his son’s prestigious school, Eden Academy, Twilight is forced to materialize a familyand have his child enroll in the school within a tight deadline of a week.
Under the alias Loid Forger and the fake profession of a psychiatrist, Twilight succeeds in his endeavor of acquiring a wife and daughter.
However, little does he know that he’s not the only one with a double life: Yor, his wife, is a skilled assassin, while Anya, his daughter, is a telepath.
Cue the hilarity as the misfit bunch put on the show of the Forgers while concealing their true identities to the best of their abilities.

Season 1 of the show has a total of 25 episodes split over two cours.
The first one that premiered on April 9th consists of 12 episodes, whiles the second one that’s set to air later this year comprises the remaining 13.

Spy × Family is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump.
The story follows a spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realizing that the girl he adopts as a daughter and the woman he agrees to be in a fake marriage with are a mind reader and an assassin respectively.
