Gomorrah will be making a return to HBO Max with its fourth season. The crime drama series, which originally aired on Italy’s TV station Sky Atlantic in 2014, was later taken up by the American streaming service.
It has since premiered up till Season 3, with the following installment set to debut soon.
HBO Max released the official trailer for Gomorrah Season 4 yesterday, where the video revealed it would make its international debut on May 20 in the United States.
It has premiered in 190 countries worldwide and the fourth season has already been aired in the UK on Sky Atlantic. The show will have 12 episodes as per previous seasons, and the upcoming installment will be launched in its entirety on the streamer.
The trailer begins with a narration of the seductive downtown Naples filled with dangers and follows Gennaro’s continued affairs as the head of the Savastano family. It also teases a grueling war that could potentially end in many casualties, as Gennaro notes: “It will soon rain blood.” Check out the trailer here:
Season 4 turns the spotlight on the sole survivor of the Savastano dynasty, who has morphed into a figure worthy of leading a crime syndicate. In fact, the upcoming season will see Genny try to juggle life as an Italian crime boss and as a husband to Azzurra and new father to little Pietro.
Considering he has his own family to look over now, Genny will have to make some changes to his life in order to protect his loved ones while struggling to escape the life his father brought him up in.
Joining hands with Patrizia, who has earned her rank within the clan, both of them will rely on the Levante clan to ensure peace among the gangs.
Based on Roberto Saviano’s novel of the same name, the show follows Ciro Di Marzio, a member of the Savastano clan then headed by Pietro.
However, after the latter is arrested, Ciro and Pietro’s son Gennaro, whom he is assigned to take under his wing, find themselves at odds with their family members when a power struggle breaks out.

Gomorrah has been well received by fans and critics alike who have lauded the show for its strong characterization, writing, directing, and acting. It has also brought comparisons with The Sopranos, although its grittiness and gore seem more similar to Game of Thrones.
But since both their reigns have ended, Gomorrah could be headed to becoming HBO Max’s next prestige series. The fifth and final season is currently filming and is expected to wrap by the end of May.

Gomorrah is an Italian crime drama television series created by Roberto Saviano for Sky Atlantic. It is based on Saviano’s book of the same name. Gomorrah made its US debut on Sundance in 2016, and the first two seasons also ran on Netflix. The show left Netflix in May 2020. Set in Naples in the 2010s, the crime drama goes inside the Camorra, a fierce Neapolitan crime organization led by Pietro Savastano. The story is told through the eyes of Don Pietro’s right-hand man, Ciro Di Marzio, whose faith in the family is tested when he realizes how far Pietro is willing to go to keep his power.
Despite his feelings, Ciro feels an obligation to obey Don Pietro’s orders when he tasks his underling with protecting his son Genny, who is being groomed to take Don Pietro’s place while the elder Savastano is arrested.
