If watching Superman and Lois season 2 has left you craving for more time at Smallville, there’s some good news for you. Not only is a season 2 confirmed for the show, but the first episode has also been written already!
Also in case you didn’t know, thanks to your love and particularly the massive critical acclaim, Superman and Lois got renewed for a season 2 just after the telecast of one episode!
The thing about Superman and Lois is that the series manages to move away from the Man of Steel track and focuses on the later years of Supeman’s life and we get to see a more matured version of him.
So what to expect from season 2? Who is a part of the cast? Well we probably don’t know everything. But to make things more exciting, I have put together everything we know so far about the upcoming season 2!
Release date
We’re used to CW releasing its shows during fall, but Superman and Lois won’t premiere before 2022.
This is because CW’s fall schedule is quite full with shows like Supergirl, Stargirl, The Flash, Batwoman and Riverdale. So it would have been hard to fit in another show. Besides, Superman and Lois deserves a dedicated prime time slot, don’t you think?
Apart from that, the show had extended much more than its general broadcast season. This has happened to earlier Arrowverse shows like Arrow or The Flash.
In short, there’s a lot of time between seasons of such shows. This time is utilized for production and also gives the actors a break. So considering all of that, I’d say Superman and Lois season 2 will premiere early 2022.
Plot and story details
We don’t know much about the plot or storyline season 2 will be following, but I guess the show will take up from the season 1 finale. The sudden arrival of John Henry Irons’ daughter Natalie does indicate that she will be a major part of season 2.
There are also certain clues dropped in. For example, there was a Central City reference in season 1 episode 14. This could indicate that season 2 may feature a Flash villain.
As is common for these universe of superheroes, there is always some sort of crossover or reference. So don’t be surprised if Supergirl characters turn up for an episode or something.
Another small bit of information: Tulloch recently tweeted the photo of the first page of season 2’s script, which revealed the title of the episode. It is named “What Lies Beneath”.
Cast
As of now, the cast is reported to be the same as season 1, with some obvious exceptions. Tyler Hoechin will return as Superman along with Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane.
Ian Bohen of Teen Wolf fame is going to join the cast as well. Bohen has earlier starred in Teen Wolf along with Typer Hoechlin. So, this will be a mini reunion for them.
Bohen will be playing , the new sheriff at the Department of Defense. Lt. Mitch Anderson apparently categorizes the world’s inhabitants in two main groups: those you serve and those who serve you. Naturally, Superman’s philosophy does not go well with him.
Will there be more flashback episodes?
In season 1, we got this amazing flashback episode which explained Clark and Lois’s relationship history before the twins were born and also showed us Clark’s first adventures as Superman.
I was wondering if there could be more such episodes in season 2.
We’ll certainly have flashbacks if it’s going to help tell the story and help the audience understand where a character is and where they came from so it really lands emotionally, then yeah, we’ll do it.
Todd Helbing
Now that does not confirm such an episode but probably there’s a chance that the history will play a role in the plot development in season 2.
