How Many Times Did Taylor Swift Use the F-Word in the Eras Tour Movie?

During the three and a half hours of The Eras Tour Movie (Taylor’s Version), Taylor Swift uses the f-bomb several times as she sings many songs that include the word. However, the pop star does not drop any f-bombs outside the existing lyrics.

Except for two songs that were absent, the entire performance is now available on Disney+ for the first time. The film version of the tour also brings back the song Cardigan and includes three other songs that were not in the theater version. In total, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour includes nearly 50 songs, with four containing the f-word.

Taylor Swift’s use of explicit language in her songs is a more recent development. In her 2017 song Don’t Blame Me from Reputation, she first used strong language, where she sang about not owing anything to a man who speaks ill of her.

It wasn’t until her 2020 album Folklore that she included her first F-bomb in the song Mad Woman. In her Disney+ special, The Eras Tour, she uses a total of six F-bombs in four different songs, one of which is in the additional acoustic performance at the end.

1. Champagne Problems (Evermore Era)

The first F-bomb that in the Eras Tour movie comes while Taylor is singing Champagne Problems from the Evermore era. The f-word is present in the lyrics of the song itself.

Swift plays the song on a mossy piano on stage after a brief introduction describing how she had a ‘cathartic’ experience while writing Champagne Problems. The lyrics say:

“‘What a shame she’s f**ked in the head,’ they said.”

Champagne Problems has been interpreted to be about depression and commitment phobia. It tells the story of the narrator rejecting her fiance’s marriage proposal. The lyrics quoted above talk about how people make judgments about the narrator and call her “f*cked in the head” because she doesn’t accept the marriage proposal.

2. All Too Well 10 Minute Version (Taylor’s Version) (Red Era)

All Too Well was originally released as a five-minute song as a part of Swift’s fourth studio album, Red, in 2012. The pop star re-released the album as Red (Taylor’s Version) in 2021, where she included a 10-minute version of All Too Well. It is also one of the vault tracks.

During the Eras Tour, Swift problems the new 10-minute version of the song and drops the second F-bomb. The f-word is used in All Too Well’s lyrics. The song says, “f*ck the patriarchy,” describing a bad breakup she went through.

3. Betty (The Folklore Era)

Taylor Swift drops the next F-bomb during the Folklore era, once again as part of the lyrics. While singing Betty and playing the acoustic guitar, she drops the F-word twice when she sings, “If I showed up at your party…would you tell me to go f**k myself?”. The line is a part of the chorus and comes two times.

Betty is one of the three folklore songs that form a love triangle. It is told from the perspective of a fictional teenager named James who cheats on the girl Betty, to whom he addresses the song. James cheats on Betty with August, who is the narrator in the song August from the same album.

4. Maroon (The Acoustic Collection)

Maroon is the last bonus song Taylor plays during the acoustic section. During the bridge of the song, Swift says, “That’s a real f**king legacy, legacy” twice. She uses the f-word both times during the set

Maroon is a part of Swift’s latest studio album, Midnights. Apart from Maroon, she sings I Can See You, Death by a Thousand Cuts, and You Are in Love in the acoustic set.

5. About Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is an American concert film documenting the Eras Tour, a 2023–2024 concert tour by singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. Directed by Sam Wrench, produced by Swift, and distributed by AMC Theatres and Cinemark Theatres, it is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States, Canada, and Mexico on October 13, 2023.

After negotiations with the major film studios fell through, Swift struck an unprecedented distribution agreement with AMC and Cinemark. Filming occurred in August 2023 at three shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and SAG-AFTRA permitted production to proceed amidst its 2023 strike. Swift announced The Eras Tour later that month, catching studios and exhibitors off guard and causing several films that had been set for release on or near October 13 to move their release dates.

The unconventional release strategy was met with a critical discourse, with journalists and industry observers praising Swift’s move to bypass the major film studios to directly partner with theaters. The film was met with significant ticket demand, amassing a record $37 million in its first day of pre-sales in the U.S.

Got the rare talent to binge an entire show in a single sitting just like that. Although a sucker for psychological thrillers, no bias for any genre when it comes to a good story. A living proof that Netflix and chill is not a myth!
