Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0, the film which was first unveiled in 2012, was expected to hit theatres of Japan in 2015. Instead fans have been put on a long wait while there have been occasional announcements and small teasers. Three films in the line up have been produced so far:
Evangelion 1.0: You Are [Not] Alone (2007)
Evangelion 2.0: You Can [Not] Advance (2009)
Evangelion 3.0: You Can [Not] Redo (2012)
1. Release Date
It looks like the long wait is finally over as the official Evangelion anime Twitter handle Tweeted on December 27 that,
Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, the fourth and final instalment in the Evangelion film series, is finally set to be released in Japan on June 27, 2020.

On July 6, the first 10 minutes of Evangelion 3.0+1.0 were shown worldwide by Studio Khara, which you can tell was quite a while back. The funny thing is that most fans don’t want to believe the story until something actually materializes. The announcement does sound promising this time as it also mentions various goodies to be given to early birds that include: a CD, a bandana signed by chief director Hideaki Anno, an action figure, a diorama stand, a portable fan, a pouch and a cushion.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a Japanese anime television series produced by Gainax and Tatsunoko Production, directed by Hideaki Anno and broadcast on TV Tokyo from October 1995 to March 1996. The story is set 15 years after an event that wipes off half of humanity on Earth and these creatures called Angels to attack Earth. Shinji Ikari and a few other teen pilots wear giant mech suits called Evangelion Units to save Earth.
