My Hero Academia just made a massive jump in the Shie Hassaikai arc, as Overhaul was finally defeated by the tag team of Eri and Izuku in the 76th episode of the series.
The episode, titled “Infinite 100%”, not only showed One for All in its full glory but also explained Eri’s quirk, thus shed light on the method of production for quirk erasing bullets.
Eri was initially presumed to be Chisaki’s daughter; however, she was recently revealed to be the granddaughter of the Yakuza boss. She was abandoned by her parents, and left in the care of the Yakuza boss, because of her terrifying quirk, Rewind.
Eri’s quirk is an enhanced version of Overhaul’s quirk. Unlike Overhaul being able to deconstruct and reconstruct things at will, Eri’s quirk can rewind time’s effects on someone’s body. If left unchecked, her quirk can effectively nullify the existence of the person she targets.
At the time of Eri’s quirk’s manifestation, she unknowingly erased her own father from existence, justifiably terrifying her mother. As dangerous as this quirk sounds, it is precisely what Izuku needed in the battle to go all out.
Tapping the power of One for All generally takes a toll on Izuku’s body. Still, with Eri on his back, using her quirk, Izuku was able to use the full potential of his quirk. Any damage to his body was instantly reversed by Eri. He knocked Overhaul out with a single hit to his face, and it looks like Overhaul is down for good.
The role of the quirk enhancing serum, and the quirk nullifying bullets after Overhaul’s capture is not yet clear. Still, with Eri’s quirk, the team of heroes can effectively repair the damage dealt with Sir Nighteye and maybe even bring back Lemillion’s quirk. The next episode of the series will air on January 18 and hopefully answer these questions.
