Now that Washington’s football team is changing its name from Redskins to something less racial, Epic has decided to remove their old names from the NFL skins available in Fortnite, according to Fortnite Intel.
Many will remember how, back in July of this year, EA removed the name of Washington’s football team from Madden NFL 21.
Now, Epic Games seems to be following suit as well, seeing how they are now removing the team’s name from their NGL skin collection.
The skins in question are Rush, Juke, Interceptor, Blitz, Strong Guard, Spike, Gridiron, and End Zone, all of which were introduced in the game back in 2018, back when the team was known as Washington Redskins.
Of course, following the update, the skins and the colors are still intact, but the logo and the name are now gone.

As an added measure, Epic also included an in-game message to fend of all the heat that might come at them for this change, saying that the players who are unhappy with this team’s name removal have until November 12 to file a refund for the same.
Also, as for the tokens that FireMonkey mentioned in the tweet, all players get three refund tokens in Fortnite, which can be used to get a refund for any undesirable in-app purchases they may have gotten.
But that is the thing, there’s only 3 of them available, after which Epic won’t accept any more refunds for any of the items.
Considering how Epic is not charging a refund token for the NFL skin, should a player wish to return it, and how players should use these token super mindfully, this is a good move on the developer’s part. Much appreciable indeed!
Now, only if they were just as careful with Apple, things would’ve been so much better for them! (SHOTS FIRED!)
