In episode 7 of Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit, Aoi, Hinata, and Kokona, along with Aoi’s father, climb Mt. Hiwada to see the first sunrise of the year. They reach the summit, which is crowded. Aoi wonders if it was the same at Mt. Fuji the previous year.

They finally witness the sunrise together from the summit. Kasumi asks Aoi and Hinata to join them at their first temple visit of the year at Mt. Takao. Aoi gets to know that Kasumi has always been concerned about her. Kasumi wishes all of them to be in the same class the following year.

Episode 8 Speculation

With each experience, Aoi is learning new things. While climbing Mt Takao with Kasumi and others, Aoi realized that she had improved significantly compared to the previous year. Aoi guided Kasumi and others well, proving that she can lead. We might see more of their exciting climbs in further episodes.

Aoi is socializing more as compared to before. She has made new friends and acquaintances with whom she enjoys spending time. We might see Aoi and Kasumi’s friendship developing in the future.

Recap of Episode 7

Kokona suggests Aoi and Hinata see the first sunrise of the year together from Tenranzan. They plan to gather at Aoi’s place on New Year’s Eve. When Hinata and Kokona arrive, Aoi introduces them to her father. Kaede could not join them as she already had plans.

Aoi’s father tells them that Tenranzan is crowded at this time of the year. He suggests going to Mt. Hiwada to witness the sunrise. He also offers to drive them while Aoi’s mother decides to relax at home and prepare New Year’s soup for them.

The girls go to bed early and sleep on the same bed though it’s congested. Hinata and Aoi are dumbfounded when Kokona falls asleep instantly. Hinata feels troubled about falling asleep, so she does not let Aoi sleep early.

Aoi blames Hinata for being late. They start climbing up the trail, which is bumpy. The course gets more difficult as they climb. They reach the tori gate, but the place seems packed.

Aoi suggests reaching the summit as they still have some time left before sunrise. Aoi wonders what it feels like to wait with the crowd for the same thing. She asks Hinata if it is the same at Mt. Fuji. As Hinata proceeds to answer, they get hit by the sun’s rays. They could finally see the sunrise together.

Kasumi, Mio, and Yuri plan for their first temple visit of the year at Mt. Takao. Kasumi calls Aoi to ask if she and Hinata want to join them since Aoi likes hiking.

Aoi is shocked to find that they planned to use a cable car and not walk initially. The line for cable-car is very long, so they plan to hike up to the temple. Aoi offers Kasumi to carry her bag. Aoi is reminded of herself a year back upon seeing Kasumi. She guides Kasumi well.

Hinata tells Aoi that she can finally be a leader. Kasumi says Aoi is entirely different now than she was in junior high. Aoi was always alone, reading books, and was embarrassed when they made eye contact.

Yuri and Mio tell Aoi that Kasumi would always talk about her and wonder how Aoi was all this time. They finally reach the temple, and Kasumi wishes all of them to be in the same class the following year.
