The first part of Emily in Paris, season 4, part 1, continues from the cliffhanger ending of the previous season, in which Camille (Camille Razat) revealed that she was expecting Gabriel’s (Lucas Bravo) child. This truth bomb was dropped during Camille and Gabriel’s planned wedding, in keeping with the show’s antics.
Even worse, Camille declared that Gabriel still had feelings for Emily (Lily Collins), which led Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) to end the relationship. To her credit, Emily managed to prevent the drama between her and the other characters in Paris from worsening by concealing Camille and Sofia’s (Melia Kreiling) affair.
Since Alfie abandoned Emily, Gabriel has not heard from Camille, and Emily has not spoken to Alfie. The situation was exacerbated when Emily and Alfie were chosen by Ami, Agence Grateau’s client, to represent the hot air balloon company on social media. As part of the marketing plan, Ami’s boss expected them to show off their love by attending a tennis match.
At the boxing gym, Emily approaches Alfie to tell him about Ami’s campaign and to talk about what transpired at the wedding. He responds that he still needs more time. Thankfully, Alfie appears at the tennis match, sparing the marketing campaign (and giving Emily one last kiss). However, he breaks things off with her there and then because he can’t get over her convoluted romantic past with Gabriel.
As Emily had hoped, Camille is still missing at the end of Episode 1 and isn’t in Greece with her erratic girlfriend Sofia. When Emily finds Camille, the latter acknowledges that she used Emily as a pretext to call off the wedding and apologizes for what happened there. In addition, Sofia travels to France to see how Camille is doing. After they move into Gabriel’s apartment, Gabriel and Emily attempt to work through their feelings for one another.
Is Emily destined for Gabriel?
The American fashionista finally chooses to be with the French chef rather than Alfie in Episode 3, “Masquerade.” Gabriel admits to Emily that he still feels the same way before the ball and sneaks out of the restaurant to go. Emily is persuaded to choose between Gabriel and Alfie by Mindy, who is startled by their presence.
Emily isn’t sure who she will choose at first, but she knows immediately that Gabriel is the person she wants to spend the rest of her life with when she sees him dancing. At the night’s end, they sneak away together, not realizing that a broken-hearted Alfie, who had just confessed his feelings to someone he believed to be Emily, is watching them go.
Does Alfie Break Up with Emily?
Since Emily hasn’t decided who she really wants to be with, there seems to be hope for her and Alfie in Episode 3, “Masquerade.” After running into Camille, who informs him that Emily and Gabriel had the option to stay together after the wedding but chose not to, Alfie decides to give her one more chance.
Alfie shows up there, optimistic about their future, before the agency’s Masquerade ball, which is being held in honor of Baccarat’s latest fragrance. After apologizing to Emily for his handling of the wedding, they share a dance. “I don’t want to be stuck with you; I want you,” Alfie confides in someone later that night, whom he takes to be Emily. It was a grave error to let you go. He kisses her, only to discover it’s Sabine and not Emily because of the mask covering her face and the fact they both have the same clothes on.
Camille Learns That She Isn’t Carrying Gabriel’s Child
The first five episodes of Emily in Paris, season 4, mostly occur in Camille, Sofia, and Gabriel’s small apartment. Despite having a baby on the way, the three adults somehow manage to keep their complex relationships together. Sadly, Sofia reaches a breaking point and decides to return to Athens.
After all, she left Greece to make sure Camille was alright; the artist had no intention of moving abroad or taking on the role of co-parent. After the breakup, Camille becomes stressed and decides to get checked out by the doctor.
The doctor asks her to check Camille and make sure everything is in order after she responds to a few standard questions. The next scene is shown when Emily in Paris cuts to Camille smoking a cigarette at a café with her friend.
The biggest revelation is, of course, that she never became pregnant. Her period stopped due to stress, and the false positive result on the pregnancy test led her to believe differently. Despite having an opportunity to tell Gabriel at the end of the last episode, Camille keeps the truth to herself with the support of her friend.
Is Marianne really a Michelin Star Inspector?
Luc (Bruno Gouery) assists Emily in getting Gabriel’s restaurant noticed for a Michelin star in the climax of Emily in Paris season 3. Strangely enough, Marianne (Laurence Gormezano), Luc’s ex-partner, works as a purported Michelin inspector, visiting establishments that have received stars to ensure the standards are still met.
Gabriel receives some advice from Marianne: he needs a better pastry chef even though his restaurant is on the brink. Following Marianne’s advice costs Gabriel a lot of money, time, and effort, but in episode 5, it’s all for nothing.
Luc takes on the responsibility of making dinner reservations for Sylvie’s husband’s birthday after she forgets to do so. He calls Marianne to secure the coveted reservation at the Michelin-starred restaurant. When it comes time to pay, the dinner takes a turn.
Marianne begs the waiter to cover the cost of their meal, threatening to withhold a star in response if they refuse. Nevertheless, while at the restaurant, a real Michelin investigator reveals that Marianne was let go a year prior for “insider dining.” Gabriel concludes that the Michelin star is unattainable in the end.
What Causes Sofia and Camille to Split Up?
Sofia tells Camille she’s going home in Episode 5, ending their relationship. She tells Camille she will not stay in Paris and invites her to travel to Athens. “There are other places to raise a child besides Paris,” Sofia asserts. She also makes the obvious point that Camille and Gabriel cannot move farther than two blocks apart, which is impeding their relationship’s progress.
Although Sofia and Camille get off to a great start, Sofia quickly runs out the door when she realizes she must find an apartment and share parenting a child in Paris. Ultimately, the artist never really committed to moving abroad and starting a family.
Marianne and Luc continue to be a quirky couple despite Marianne’s lies. Even though Benoît (Kevin Dias), Mindy’s bandmate, still seems like a potential love interest, Mindy’s love for Nicolas grows when he finally stands up to his father.
What will happen in Emily in Paris, Season 4, Part Two?
Netflix has not yet unveiled a trailer for Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 2. Still, the second episode is anticipated to tackle important issues, such as whether Camille will come clean to Gabriel about her pregnancy or keep pretending to be pregnant to maintain her relationship with him.
Alfie doesn’t seem involved anymore, at least not right now. He hasn’t been portrayed extensively since the masquerade ball in Episode 3. Part 2 will probably see Emily and Gabriel’s relationship take a more serious turn. Still, it’s unclear how Camille will fit into their dynamic now that Sofia has formally left for Greece.
Mindy and her band were chosen for the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Mindy and Benoît’s romance is still strong, especially after their performance at Laurent’s nightclub. Could Part Two be the turning point for their hidden emotions?
It’s still unclear in Part One why or how Emily will be going on a Roman vacation, but by Part Two, she is also scheduled to depart from Paris for Rome. So that fans won’t have to wait too long for a sneak peek, Netflix will probably release a trailer for the final five episodes in the coming weeks.
