Elden Ring’s Steam Cloud save Feature Is Working Just as Intended Now

It has been a week of highs and lows for Elden Ring. Even though the title further solidified its position as a phenomenon by amassing a concurrent player count of nearly one million on Steam this week, it fell prey to a pesky glitch that made everyone lose out on tons of progress on the very same platform.

Due to reasons beyond our understating, saving Elden Ring on PC became a nuisance for players as their save files weren’t syncing online with the Steam Cloud. As a result, enthusiasts returning to the game were welcomed by a heartbreaking save conflict error message that stated their local files and cloud saves were not the same.

In this situation, gamers had to look carefully at the last update time and date of each save and “select the saved data [they] want to keep and complete the synchronisation”. Haplessly, all those who chose the incorrect file had to see their progress getting washed away.

Many players had to witness this bug flush their gameplay down the drain and if you, too, are worried that it will swallow your progress whole, then rest easy.

As announced by Bandai Namco on Twitter, an update for the Steam client has resolved the conflicting issue of Elden Ring’s local and cloud save data. All you have to do is update the Steam client to its latest version to get rid of the problem.

It must be kept in mind that Steam automatically checks for and installs an update. But if that’s not the case with you, head to the “check for Steam updates” under the “Steam” tab in the upper left corner of your client and get the job done.

Owing to stuttering, dropped frame, and poor performance, the gaming experience of Elden Ring players on PC has already been severely hampered. Therefore, it’s good to see at least one bothersome bug being ironed out.

As for the rest of the problems, we still don’t know when they’ll be fixed as Bandai Namco is yet to shed light on the topic. But given that Elden Ring can touch the ultimate greatness as soon as they’re ironed out, expect a patch soon.
