Millions of gamers worldwide were abuzz with excitement when Elden Ring was announced during E3 2019. Now, as we edge closer to the iteration’s release date, FromSoftware keeps providing enthusiasts with a steady trickle of content to shed light on juicier things about the game.
Now, in a recent interview with PlayStation, FromSoftware’s director Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that multiple endings and New Game Plus would remain “intact” in Elden Ring.
Note: A New Game Plus lets you replay the game with all the upgrades and gear from the endgame of the previous save, allowing you to go after a different ending.
Given that both these features are staples of the Souls franchise, it’s no breaking news that Elden Ring would feature them too. Both Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 2 offer two endings, while Dark Souls 3, on the other hand, comes packed with four possible ends.
Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice follow the same trail as well, with three and four different endings, respectively. In addition to this, every mentioned title also packs a New Game Plus mode for users looking for a more challenging yet rewarding second playthrough.
While this Miyazaki’s statement dropped no major bombshell, it’s still good to receive confirmation about the matter at hand. Having the power to shape stories per own inclinations has always been an intriguing element in games.
Add the possibility of making your second playthrough even more enriching than the first one, thanks to New Game Plus mode, and you’ll end up with a title that never ceases to fascinate you.
In addition to this confirmation, Miyazaki discussed that players who keep away from FromSoftware games due to severe difficulty should not be afraid this time. Since the development team focused on balancing difficulty in Elden Ring, it has been designed to be less stressful in contrast to other Soul’s games.
We don’t try to force difficulty or make things hard for the sake of it. We want players to use their cunning, study the game, memorize what’s happening, and learn from their mistakes. We don’t want players to feel like the game is unfairly punishing, but rather that there’s a chance to win a difficult encounter and make progress.

Talking more about the game’s innovative factors, the director also revealed that Elden Ring has also been provided “with a splash of color” to give it a more inviting theme.
We wanted to give a sense that a Golden Age has passed through this world and that the player can still see traces of it. We wanted to provide the world with a much more painterly look to invoke a high fantasy feeling as a theme.

But at the same time, this does not mean that the iteration won’t carry the bleakness that Souls games are known for. Therefore, those who live for the dark and harsh moments will have something to look forward to as well.
Elden Ring will roll out on February 14th, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
