Edens Zero Episode 23: Release Date, Speculation, and Watch Online

Edens Zero episode 22, titled “My Mother, the Machine,” was released this week.

Last, we saw Shiki lose his temper and fight against Garrot to free Homura, as she was kidnapped. We also see Rebecca, Happy, and Pino making it to the labor district with Nino’s help.

They met up with one of Valkyrie’s disciples, who helped them get to Shiki and Rebecca. 

In the latest episode, we learned the sad truth about Valkyrie’s past. Not just that, we also got to see how Valkyrie was a mother figure for Homura after her biological mother abandoned her.

Episode 23 Speculations and Discussions

The title of episode 23, “Until the Day it Turns to Strength,” is revealed at the end of episode 22.

There is not a single doubt in my mind that Shiki is going to show why he is known as the Demon King and let hell break loose on everyone who tries to hurt his friends. 

It was really unfortunate to hear about Valkyrie. I really expected her to be part of Shiki’s crew.

I still have not lost hope yet. Maybe there is a way they could revive Valkyrie’s core. I really hope there is some way.

But if there isn’t, I’m sure that Homura will wish for Valkyrie’s revival when the crew finally meets Mother.

Episode 23 of the Edens Zero anime, titled “Until the Day it Turns to Strength”, has been released on Sunday, Sep 19, 2021.

No, Edens Zero is not on break this week. Episode 23 is set to air as scheduled, without any delay. 

Recap of Episode 22

Episode 22, titled “My Mother, the Machine,” starts with Homura and the others learning the truth about Valkyrie’s past from the cube that Paul gave her.

The episode cuts to a flashback where Valkyrie adopts and tends to Homura. Valkyrie trains Homura to be strong and puts her through a lot of endurance training. 

Valkyrie then learns that Homura’s mother is still alive. She feels that since she is an android, she could never be a maternal figure to Homura. 

So she sets out to find Homura’s mother. She also goes and visits Xiaomei to find the location of her mom. 

She finally finds her mom in the labor district of planet Sun Jewel. Her mom claims that she owes a lot of money to particular people, and thus cannot leave the place till she finishes her punishment. 

Homura takes it on herself to complete the sentence, hoping that she will go back to Homura. 

Nonetheless, she finds out later that she never intended to go back to Homura and ended up ruling over planet Sun Jewel. She is the present queen, Madame Kurenai. 

Madame Kurenai’s greed was so much that she released an insane amount of powerful stones in the labor district. Valkyrie exhausts her core fighting these stones, which is equivalent to human death.

Back to the present, Homura is mourning in front of Valkyrie’s body which has not been moved since the incident. 

The prisoners in the labor district approach Homura, recognizing her as Valkyrie’s apprentice, telling her that they plan to retaliate against Madame Kurenai. 

Shiki approaches Homura too and tells her that Valkyrie was really cool and would have been a really good friend. He then takes his leave.

The episode ends with an enraged Shiki crashing into Madame Kurenai’s residence, telling that he is taking her to Homura even if he has to beat her to death.
