Battlefield 2042 Early Access Seems to Be Crashing Xbox Consoles

We are just days away from the full release of Battlefield 2042, but the game’s Early Access version has already drawn a wave of criticisms from fans. The Early Access is only available for those who preordered the Gold or Ultimate Editions, along with those who subscribed to EA Play, included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

While the game is available to Xbox users, those with a Series X should probably hold back from jumping into the game, as many reports have stated that the title is crashing the console, leading to a total shutdown.

This isn’t a new occurrence, as the Battlefield 2042 beta was littered with issues, and it was also reported that the team would not be able to fix the frame rate issues in time for the official launch.

There are over 300 replies on the EA support forum where Early Access players have been sharing their frustrations for the constant crashes experienced when playing Battlefield 2042. The crash tends to shut down the console entirely and appears to happen at random, occurring a few minutes into the game or towards the end.

EA has acknowledged the issue and is attempting to troubleshoot some of the problems. After a further 200 replies, EA updated the thread stating that they are aware of the case, and an “optional” update will be made available for all Xbox Series X players on November 17th, just two days before the official launch.

Strangely, EA has said that “players can already download this update in the OMEGA Ring as part of the Xbox Insider Program.” This makes it sound like the optional update going to be made available from the 17th is the same as the one available now.

People have been asking EA for clarification as to whether the update on the 17th is the same, as the current update hasn’t resolved the issue for most players.

The forum topic was created on Thursday, with many players stating that they haven’t been able to enjoy a single complete match, even after preordering the upgraded Battlefield 2042 editions.

If the update coming on November 17th is different than the update via Xbox Insider and provided it works, that will give players only two days of early access, a far cry from the promised week.

Players have been reporting several issues with the game, including server and framerate problems.

It is unlikely Xbox users will get some major update, given that the game is just a few days from launch. The Early Access has brought in a lot of players, and whatever criticisms Battlefield 2042 is receiving currently might not be enough to push people away from the FPS.
