It’s been a big weekend for football fans. With the finals of the UEFA European Championship and the Copa America both ending with nail-biting finishes, and the start of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, footie fans have had a lot to process.
EA also added fuel to this fire by unveiling FIFA 22 on July 11 and confirmed that the game would be coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on October 1, 2021.
Just a couple of days ago, we had found out who would be the cover athlete for FIFA 22, and with this trailer, we have some look at the features we can expect.
The trailer focused on one of the game’s key marketing pushes, which EA has branded as HyperMotion technology. This tech is reported to combine “Advanced 11v11 Match Capture” with machine learning, giving FIFA 22 players realistic movement and action on the pitch.
The trailer even showed how this would look like in-game by using simulated game engine footage. Unfortunately, the trailer did not have actual gameplay. But, the caveat is the HyperMotion technology will be exclusive to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia versions of FIFA 22.
Other features revealed during the FIFA 22 announcement, however not in the reveal trailer, including the return of Career mode, VOLTA FOOTBALL, Pro Clubs, and FIFA Ultimate Team.
In addition, EA has also rebuilt FIFA 22‘s goalkeeper system, included a new Create a Club system for Career Mode, changed VOLTA FOOTBALL’s gameplay, and added FIFA Ultimate Team Heroes.
Along with the reveal trailer, pre-orders for FIFA 22 have also gone live. As is typical with cross-gen titles, there is a price difference between the current-gen and next-gen versions.
PC, PS4, and Xbox One Standard Edition versions will cost $59.99, while the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Standard Editions version will cost $69.99.
There is also a FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition for $99.99 for either PS4+PS5 or Xbox One + Xbox Series X|S and comes with extra bonuses. The PC Ultimate Edition will cost $79.99.
We can expect to hear more about FIFA 22, HyperMotion, and the other new features coming to the game as we get closer to the release date. Unfortunately, we don’t have any date for the official gameplay reveal of FIFA 22, but if past trends are to be followed, we can expect it sometime in August.
