Henry Cavill to Return as Superman Soon, Thanks to Dwayne Johnson

It is almost confirmed that Henry Cavill is returning as Superman pretty soon. Despite no appearances at the recently held San Diego Comic-Con, fans still have been hopeful of Henry Cavill’s return as Superman. A recent report might have confirmed the same, stressing on Dwayne Johnson’s contribution in the matter.

Previously, Henry Cavill mentioned that he was done with the role of Superman. However, rumors are rife that the actor will be reprising his role as the DC superhero in the upcoming DCEU film, Black Adam.

Black Adam will mark the debut of Dwayne Johnson in the DCEU. In fact, Johnson himself mentioned in several occasions that he would want Cavill to return as Superman and teased the same. Reports suggested Warner Bros. faced pressure from The Rock for Henry Cavill’s return.

During a recent episode of the Marvelvision Podcast, popular film critic and former editor-in-chief of “Birth. Movies. Death.” Devin Faraci revealed that Henry Cavill is all set to return as Superman in Black Adam. He further mentioned that it was possible because Dwayne Johnson fought hard for it to happen.

Here’s what he said –

“Yeah. It’s not, like, specific. It’s all behind-the-scenes stuff that I thought was kind of fascinating, which is that the reason why… Henry Cavill has returned as Superman in Black Adam is because The Rock demanded it. Like, he went hard, full-court press on Warner Bros., and made them go to Henry Cavill and they had to sign a new deal with Henry Cavill, including saying they were gonna develop a new Superman movie… And it was all because The Rock insisted.”

Faraci also revealed that a Man of Steel sequel is on the talks. Cavill will be playing Superman in this upcoming sequel as well. According to Faraci’s sources, the Man of Steel sequel is allegedly titled Man of Tomorrow.

Black Adam is popularly considered to be Shazam’s biggest enemy. But Dwayne Johnson will be portraying the character as an anti-hero. In other words, the film will be exploring the morally ambiguous sides of the character.

It will be interesting to see how Superman will play a role in Black Adam’s story. Considering how passionate The Rock was for Cavill’s return, we can expect a good role for Superman in the saga.

Only time will tell if Faraci’s claims are true. Hopefully, we will get to see Henry Cavill back as Superman in Black Adam, followed by the Man of Steel sequel.
