Dune: Part One debuted on Friday in theatres and on HBO Max, and it is absolutely stunning.
The film feels like it’s pulling you into the pages of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi novel, and WB would be foolish not to green-light Dune: Part Two.
Director Denis Villeneuve previously expressed that he has high hopes and has now revealed that he plans for the second film to have more action than the first one.
In an interview with Fandango, Villeneuve talked about the approach he’ll be taking for Dune 2 if it were to happen,
I laid the base, the basics of the world – it’s done now. I don’t have to explain most of the world. So now I can just have fun with cinema.
That’s what I will say, is that I think if ever such a thing happens as a Part 2, it’s going to be a cinematic party. I mean, it’s not the right word. I apologize. I will say it is going to be a cinematic blast for me. I think that I could create something much more built into cinematic action and less talking.

So far, Dune has received tons of positive reviews and started strong at the box office, which means the possibility of part 2 being greenlit is stronger than ever.
The film has a runtime of 2 hours 36 minutes, and a majority of it is spent establishing the world of Dune for those unaware of the source material.
Part 1 can be considered ‘the hero’s journey’ where we see Paul Atreides reach the destination where his visions we’re meant to lead him to, and the film ends in a way that tells us the real story/journey is yet to begin.
Villeneuve previously talked to Newsweek and said he was glad he split the book into two parts, as it allowed him to tell an intricate story at a pace that doesn’t feel rushed,
I feel that it’s more time to digest the first experience and having taken lessons out of it and becoming more prepared and having more knowledge about what will happen and the way to approach it.
The second one, if it happens, will be definitely more challenging and more complex to do. And I’m happy that I’d like some kind of, not a massive rehearsal, but you know the first one was really like training to work on that scale. So I learned a lot.

The director, who envisions the saga as a trilogy, said that Legendary and Warner Bros, both, had plans for multiple movies,
Right at the beginning, I strongly recommended that we should do this in two parts… I think that Legendary bought the rights for Dune, they had this idea of creating a series of movies, so I suggested they split the first one in two parts, and they all said yes, of course, that makes a lot of sense.

Here’s hoping that we get to experience Dune: Part Two as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Dune: Part One is now out in theatres and also available to stream on HBO Max until 21 November.
Damn! No streaming services found :/
