After two hit anime films, Studio Colorado is ready to premiere its third full-length movie, Drifting Home.
This time, two awkward sixth-graders will grab your attention as they get struck by childhood memories in the most unexpected way.
The anime is based on (literally) a drifting home. Natsume and Kōsuke will find themselves in a floating building in the middle of a sea, and the film will then tell us the adventure of how these kiddos will return to the normal world.
The Drifting Home anime movie will be released worldwide on Netflix in 2022. Although a definite date has not been fixed for its debut yet, you can expect it to arrive in summer 2022.
Zuttomayo, the music band, is in charge of the insert and theme songs for the movie. The band is making its anime theme debut with Drifting Home, and their upbeat song has been previewed in the movie’s latest trailer.
Studio Colorado has produced some cute anime, but Drifting Home goes beyond all that to showcase a unique art style. The trailer shows an apartment complex cruising through a sea with Kōsuke and his friends fast asleep inside it.
Kōsuke and Natsume have many memories attached to this building which will gradually surface and tighten their bond, washing away their awkwardness.
The film has also received an incredible staff team that you can check out right here:
Position | Staff | Other Works |
Director | Hiroyasu Ishida | Penguin Highway |
Script | Hayashi Mori, Minaka Sakamoto | Cells at Work! Code Black; Babylon |
Character Design | Minaka Sakamoto | Fastening Days |
Music Composer | Umitarō Abe | Penguin Highway |
With a fantastic plot and cute chibi protagonists, Drifting Home is ready to make its Netflix debut. Let’s see if the movie can deliver the beauty it promises.
