Dragon Quest XI: Definitive Edition’s Demo Is Here!

Dragon Quest XI S: Definitive Edition, the glossed up and polished version of the original, will be coming on Steam and has a free 10-hour demo for players to try the game out already!

The game’s definite edition is undoubtedly the better way to experience everything Dragon Quest XI has to offer.

Not to mention, this edition includes the much-demanded orchestral soundtrack, a retro mode where you can play your game in 2D RPG-esque graphics, and a lot more!

Sadly, the original game will not be upgraded to the definitive edition, and this version will remain standalone.

While the game might arrive in December this year, a demo has already been released for players to experience the first 10 hours of the game.

Ten hours may seem like a lot by a regular game’s standards, but you need to keep in mind that Dragon Quest XI is almost a 100-hour game, so what you’re getting here is a small but reasonable enough chunk of a game.

Also, it’ll help you in determining whether you should try out Dragon Quest XI or not. Because trust me, this demo will help you make your mind about buying the game or not.

How’s Dragon Quest XI?

Dragon Quest XI is a great, albeit very standard JRPG, especially by today’s standards. While it is the first for a Dragon Quest game on PC, I think many may feel a strange sense of déjà vu while playing this game, and they really cannot be blamed, in my opinion.

The game’s story feels relatively barren, for starters, with a young boy discovering that he has mysterious powers and sets off to save his home and, in turn, the world.

Not to mention, this simple premise stretches out to almost 100 hours, with little to no character development and a lot of conversations that lead to nowhere.

While the game’s combat-system feels super nostalgic and is really fun in the initial hours of the game, with us also having the option to choose which enemies to fight, the system becomes more and more tedious with each passing hour of the playtime.

But other than that, the world-building of Dragon Quest XI is where the game really shines!

Here, the towns are bustling and feel extremely real with diverse architecture, and the world is loaded with things to find and collect should you decide to deviate from the path. That experience is genuinely satisfying, and it’s what makes the game so much more fun to play!

Anyhow, the game is undoubtedly one of the best contemporary JRPGs out there, and you should certainly give it a go to see whether it’s worth your time or now, and the demo is the best way to check that! That said, be sure to check out the demo on Steam!
