Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai Episode 57: Release Date, Speculation

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai episode 56, titled “The Inherited Heart,” is the latest installment of the anime.

The episode reunited Dai with his friends. Dai is delighted to see him unharmed, but his happiness doesn’t last long as he discovers that his father, Baran, had sacrificed himself to save him.

After the Black Core’s detonation, Hadlar and Baran have perished, and King Vearn’s castle has revealed itself.

As the team prepares themselves to face Vearn, he appears before them and challenges them to a duel. Mystvearn and Killervearn aren’t allowed to interfere in the battle as this is the team’s reward and the only chance to defeat the Dark King.

Will they finally defeat the Dark King once and for all? Keep watching to find out.

Episode 57 Speculation

The last episode revealed Baran’s death is confirmed. Dai reunites with Hyunckel and the others as they grieve together over Baran.

King Veran visits them, expressing how he was impressed by them making it so far, even with Baran’s sacrifice. He tells them that he would only take his castle up in the sky after killing all enemies, which he assumed to be true after the Black Core detonated.

It is now up to Dai and the others to defeat King Vearn. Even when he fights alone, Vearn carries a confident smile due to his overwhelming power. The next episode will show us the wrath of Dai as he comes face to face with the Dark King.

Episode 56 Recap

Episode 56 begins with the revelation of the Vearn Palace, previously buried under the field of death. It’s a gigantic floating palace resembling a mighty bird.

Hyunckel and the others are astonished by such a sight as they realize the actual depth of King Vearn’s magic power.

Crocodine punches the surface and informs the others that the palace is made of material between rock and metal which must be floating due to a particular reaction with the King’s magic power.

Popp wonders if they should zoom back to safety, but Maam argues they can’t just leave Dai and Baran behind. Hyunckel predicts that the explosion must have happened during the fight between the Dragon Knights and Hadlar. They decide to look for Baran and Dai.

They locate a staircase leading to the citadel and enter the palace searching for Dai and his father. Back at King Vearn’s chambers, we learn that the Dark King isn’t bothered by their presence and considers them as his guests. The team discovers Dai, who is deeply wounded.

Dai is glad to find them and assumes that Baran must have contained the explosion. His happiness is short-lived as he discovers that Baran has almost died while protecting him from the Black Core.

As Dai tries to heal him, Baran holds on to him, explaining how he cannot be revived. He tells him that he used up all of his Draconic aura and doesn’t have a shred of life energy left. Dai does not want to accept this and tears up while clutching his father’s withered hands.

Baran asks Dai not to weep over his death through his last words since he isn’t a real dragon knight. Despite having magical strength and physical powers, he lacked a heart. As Baran shuts his eyes, Dai calls out to him for the last time, finally accepting him as his real father.

Baran’s death devastates everyone. Dai continues to sob, but Baran’s soul visits him, telling him that his soul lives on even though his body is gone. He says that he believes in Dai and in the fact that he will defeat King Vearn.

After their final goodbyes to Baran, Dai and the team decide to go ahead and defeat King Vearn. Their declaration is followed by Mystvearn and the Killvearn appearing before them, announcing King Vearn’s arrival.

His presence is ghastly, and they all finally realize how mighty the Dark King is. All their previous interactions with the King were indirect, and it was now that they all felt the overwhelming pressure from his true self.

King Vearn congratulates the heroes on making it to his castle. He tells them that their reward for making it to the castle is that they get a chance to battle him alone without any interference from Killvearn or Mystvearn.

They accept the challenge, marking the beginning of a long battle between them and the Dark King.

About Dragon Quest: Dai no Daiboken (2020)

Dragon Quest is an anime and manga series based on the rpg video game of the same name.

The story features Dai, a boy living in the Dermline Islands and his quest of becoming a hero and realizing his powers and helping Princess Leona along the way.

The games were adapted into two major television series. Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai is the remake of the 1991 series which had 46 episodes in total.
