Dragon Ball Super Universe Survival Saga Back on Toonami

The Dragon Ball franchise has been one that all of us grew up with. We saw Goku grow from his first adventure with Bulma to gathering all 7 Dragon Balls, achieving godly power with his Mastered Ultra Instinct.

Dragon Ball Super is widely criticized for its bad animation, but managed to succeed with the new characters and transformations the show introduced.

Toei Animation recently announced on their official twitter page that Dragon Ball Super would return to Toonami with its Universe Survival Saga on July 11. They also announced that a marathon featuring episodes 60 to 67 would be broadcasted on July 4 from 12 am-4 am.

The Universe Survival Saga ran for 55 episodes with twists and turned all the way. This saga focused on many forgotten characters like Tien, Master Roshi, and Android 17, featuring unlikely alliances like Goku and Frieza’s. It also brought redemptions for characters like Gohan and Krillin.

This saga featured The Tournament of power, a battle royale between teams of 10 from universe 2,3,4,6,7,9,10 and 11. Whoever loses all ten fighters will have their universe erased.

It expanded the multiverse by introducing the God of Destructions and characters from every universe, exempting teams from 1,5,8 and 12.

The highlights of this saga are the introduction of Jiren, who turns out to be the strongest character our protagonists have ever fought, new Saiyans from Universe 6, and Ultra instinct.
