Dragon Ball Super broke the box office this year with its ‘Super Hero’ film, whose plot was a big surprise for all Gohan and Piccolo lovers. However, as soon as the movie’s hype calmed down, fans turned their attention back to the manga’s return.
The franchise’s manga went on an indefinite hiatus in August to prepare for its next arc. Today’s a good day for all the manga readers, as the time for it to come back is finally here.
Shueisha’s V Jump magazine has revealed in its latest January 2023 issue that Dragon Ball Super will resume in December with a new arc. The new chapter will be published in the magazine’s February 2023 issue on December 21, 2022.
The main characters this time are Trunks and Goten!! The new chapter of the manga “Dragon Ball Super” and “Super Hero Edition” has finally started!!

As stated by Dragon Ball Super’s official website, the new arc will feature Trunks and Goten as the protagonists. The visual featured in the magazine shows the trouble-seeking duo in superhero gear, but not like the one Gamma 1 and 2 had in the recent film.
The website further reveals that the new arc starting from chapter 88, will be a prequel to the ‘Super Hero’ film. It will move on to adapt the movie itself in later chapters.
Considering how the Dragon Ball Super manga is an adaptation of the anime, it only makes sense to get the movie in manga form too.
As the manga has always differed a bit from the anime, we might get some new details and scenes added to it. For instance, a slightly lengthier version of Pan’s badass action sequence or more of Piccolo’s orange form.
We may never get more of Dragon Ball Super anime again, despite it being one of the best installments of the Dragon Ball franchise. However, there’s a possibility of more movies in the future or an entirely new series better than this one.
With this, I hope they introduce something new soon. There’s only much Goku and Gohan can do for the story, and using them too much might make the father and son lose their charm.
