In chapter 77, titled “Bardock, Father of Goku,” Oatmeal told the story of the Saiyan who saved Granolah and himself. Granolah found out about the events and what happened to his mother.
The Saiyans and Frieza’s army showed up one full moon and attacked the planet. Bardock recalled his family back on planet Vegeta as he saw Granolah and his mother. He saved them and handed them to Oatmeal.
Bardock heard the Heeters’ plan to reign Frieza’s army and got caught by them. Granolah’s mother got killed in the process. In the end, the Heeters are finally close to getting the last dragon ball.

1. Chapter 78 Discussion
We got to see how Goku’s parents were and how Bardock was like as a Saiyan warrior. At least now we know where Goku gets his serious personality in a fight from.
Granolah found out the truth of the events and his mother’s murder by the Heeters. What will this mean for Granolah? Will he avenge his mother’s death and take down the Heeters? It looks like the situation is developing from here.
I think the Heeters will find the last dragon ball and set their plan in motion. The Saiyans with Granolah will try and stop them from such acts. Goku and Vegeta might also find out the Heeters true goal as the following chapters get released.
2. Chapter 78 Release Date
Chapter 78 of the Dragon Ball Super manga has been released on Friday, Nov 19, 2021. The chapter title has not been leaked yet.
I. Is Dragon Ball Super on Break This Month?
Chapter 78 of the Dragon Ball Super manga is not on a break this month. It will continue in the next issue of the Monthly Shonen Jump as usual. No such delay is announced.
Dragon Ball Super manga is published under Ultra Jump magazine, which comes out on the 20th of every month.
3. Chapter 78 Raw Scans and Leaks
Raw scans and draft pages for chapter 78 of the Dragon Ball Super manga have already been released. More scans will probably be released by November 18, so don’t forget to check back.
The draft displays Elec, one of the Heeters, in front of a dragon. This means they’ve collected all the dragon balls and are set to make a wish. Even though his siblings aren’t seen here, we see that Elec is stunned by the dragon’s appearance.
The dragon says here, ‘You’ve gathered the balls. Now state your wish.’ I wonder what wish the Heeters will make. Since they’re looking to acquire an army, it might just be that or gain Zuno’s intel as well. We’ll have to wait and see as the chapters are released.
4. Recap of Chapter 77
This chapter starts with Oatmeal telling the story of planet Cereal forty years back when Frieza invaded the planet with Saiyans. It happened one night on a full moon as shuttles landed on the planet, and when the Saiyans got out, they turned into apes and rampaged.
The Cerealians and Namekians were not many in numbers, making it easy for Frieza’s army to cause havoc. Oatmeal, finding himself the last Namekian, is given the dragon balls to protect. The Cerealians were no match for the Saiyans but had a bitter fight.
While the Saiyans were on the rampage to destroy the settlements, one of them spotted a young Cerealian heading towards the outskirts. Following him there, he finds Granolah with his mother. Granolah gets unconscious on seeing the ape.
Later the Cerealians try to take out the moon to stop the Saiyans. As the Cerealian shot the beam, it hit a Saiyan trying to stop it, but it took out the moon. Even though the Saiyans were back to the human form, they were tough enough to fight.
Meanwhile, Bardock is still at the scene with Granolah and his mother, Muezli. As Muezli defends by striking Bardock, he gets a flashback of the time on planet Vegeta. Bardock recalls how he sees his son for the first time and names him Kakarrot.
The Saiyans get orders to pull out, and Bardock understands the mission is done as Frieza’s on his way. He then mentions them to go ahead as he wants to look for survivors. Looking for survivors, he spots a faint energy signal.
Oatmeal is seen hiding the dragon balls, but he hears someone approach. As he tries to defend himself, he finds a Saiyan with what so left of the Cerealians. Oatmeal questions the Saiyan’s purpose for this act, and the Saiyan replies he just felt like it.
As he leaves, Oatmeal gets his name, and that’s how Bardock saved them many years ago. Coming to the present, Granolah is astonished a Saiyan’s mercy saved him. Oatmeal then mentions that Goku has the spitting image of Bardock.
Goku then tells Oatmeal he doesn’t know about it much, but Vegeta reveals to Goku that Bardock was his father. Goku, Oatmeal, and Granolah are surprised to hear the fact. Granolah then questions about his mother, who didn’t survive.
Oatmeal then explains just as Bardock was leaving, he spotted Heeters and overheard them talk about taking over Frieza’s reign. As Bardock understands this, Granolah wakes up and sees the Saiyan and screams.
This brings the attention of the Heeters, and they find out one of Frieza’s henchmen is trying to take out some survivors. The Heeters mention Bardock to do so, but due to his hesitation, Elec shoots Muezli.
This makes Bardock angry, and he fires energy balls at them but gets blocked by Gas. Bardock then escapes with Oatmeal and the Cerealians and thinks about what to do next. The Heeters send Gas to make sure their plan doesn’t get leaked and tell him to finish them off.
In the present, Elec talks to Gas about the time he fought with a Saiyan and how he’s got revenge since then. Making sure they are on track, the Heeters continues to look for the final dragon ball.
