Dr. Stone has been gradually inching towards its end, and fans have been painfully aware of it. Still, a recent Weekly Shonen Jump leak has left fans speechless as the conclusion is nearer than anyone could’ve anticipated.
Recently, a leak of Weekly Shonen Jump’s issue 13 has been circulating on the Internet. Reportedly, the magazine will announce that the Dr. Stone manga will end in issue #14, which will be out on March 7, 2022.
Not only will the manga receive color pages, but also an extra 26 pages in the next issue.
So it seems like Dr. Stone will end in just two more chapters. Yet, I think most fans will agree with me when I say it is a bit too abrupt.
In the latest chapters, Why-man was confirmed as a parasitic AI alien, and the reveal disappointed many fans. Nonetheless, Senku was ready to negotiate their next steps.
The leaks of chapter 231 posed a much bigger disappointment as they show the negotiation had failed and Why-man would move on to another planet.
How did the Why-man back down after a single conversation, even after not giving up for thousands of years?
This seems to be too easy a solution and ultimately destroys the possibility of using the devices to the advantage of humans.
Moreover, questions like ‘Who created Why-men?’ or ‘Where are they from?’, ‘How many other species are out there?’ remain unanswered.
If this really was a planned ending, then a lot rides on the upcoming two chapters. Although Dr. Stone has faced a bit of rushed pacing in the past few chapters, as a dedicated fan, I would hate to see it go without a blast.
