Humans have always been excited about reaching the Moon but absolutely no one had even thought about this way back, except Senku, of course. In chapter 209 of Dr. Stone, a terrifying truth has been revealed about the Moon Mission.
No time can be wasted before reaching the moon because Why-man’s next attack is unpredictable, thus there is no time to think about their return vessel.
Soon it becomes clear that the plan to return to Earth is that there is no return at all. Senky rephrases the Mission Moon to “Moon Mission Suicide Run.” It is evident from the sentencing that the mission has now become a one-way ticket to space.
If the team can’t return, will they all die on the moon? Of course, that is not the case. Senku has devised a backup plan as always, and they will use the medusa to petrify themselves on the moon.
Just like how all of Senku’s plans work, the next part will be the most harrowing. The petrified adventurers will have to wait on the surface of the moon for decades or maybe even centuries for Earth’s science to develop enough to revive them.
I have mixed feelings towards the idea of an adult Chrome voyaging to save Senku, but that is to say if he even manages it within his lifetime. It seems improbable that a story as happy-go-lucky as Dr. Stone will have such a bitter-sweet ending.
Another possibility that fans are betting on is that Why-man might have a ship ready for themself and the Science team might be able to leave on that instead. That possibility will be completely ruined if Why-man is discovered to be a robot.
Xeno might be able to figure out a faster way, but even that might take years without Senku’s help. It looks like Senku, Tsukasa, and Ryusui are definitely going to the Moon, and it would make sense as they are from the smartest ones from the old world.
Either way, I hope that this problem gets solved as quickly as Senku made ramen and cola, so that our ace team isn’t stuck on the moon and petrified for the 100th time.
