5. Chapter 187 Recap
I. Pre-emptive Guerrilla Fight
The science war has turned into a mind game in which the party who holds their nerves wins. Both Senku and Stanley have hostages with them, and it’s all about who makes the most out of it.
Senku knows the direction from which Stanley’s troops are coming. His plan is simple, to activate the medusa device when the enemies arrive.
However, he realizes that an all-out attack may not be effective since they have Suika and Francois captured. Instead, a pre-emptive guerrilla attack might work perfectly in this situation.
II. Fake Gun Shots
Kohaku locates the enemy with her exceptional eyesight and rushes towards them to save Suika. After analyzing the soldiers and their moves, she concludes that these trained soldiers are no more than battle machines, with each one having their own function.
Meanwhile, Suika is amazed to see the Americans’ ability to track the faint footprints back to the fortress. Soon, Tsukasa and Hyoga arrive, and they are glad to see that Kohaku hasn’t done anything reckless.
Tsukasa reveals that they don’t stand a chance in a head-on fight, so their only option is to ambush them. They decide to make fake gunshot sounds to startle the enemy before attacking them.
The recordings made from real gunshot sound a little off, so they use plastic bottles to recreate gunshots and then overlap them over one another to make it sound more realistic.
While the Americans are distracted by gunshots, they have to surprise them with an attack from the front. They must be very careful since a chaotic battle means dead hostages.
III. The Communication Game
Hyoga adds that their priority is to destroy Stanley’s communication system. In a war like this, the first one to destroy the enemy’s communication system is more likely to win.
Once Stanley’s communication device is destroyed, he can no longer harm Nikki and their other allies at Xeno’s castle. Thus, they can play the obvious card of putting a knife under Xeno’s throat and win the battle.
Kohaku reminds him that Suika and Francois would still be their hostages. But it seems Hyoga is willing to sacrifice that much to win the war.
After hearing this, Kohaku was about to back out when Tsukasa explains that destroying the communication device will result in an obvious delay for the opposition party since they cannot plan the next move without fixing it.
But when everything was going according to the plan, a soldier named Maya, who is supposedly the battalion leader, detects the three of them. Thus, a fight is about to breakout, and Tsukasa decides not to go down without a fight.
