Dr. Stone’s manga is currently in the New America City Arc, which started back in chapter 139.
The goal for the Kingdom of Science in this arc is to find a reliable supply of corn which they can use to make the gigantic amounts of alcohol needed to create enough revival fluid for everyone on Earth.
As the population grows, this corn will also act as a good source of food for them.
However, it looks like fans will have to wait before they get to see Senku and the team explore more of the United States.
Dr. Stone’s chapter 149 has been delayed due to the Japanese Golden Week. During this time, the Japanese take time off of their hectic schedule and enjoy their culture by celebrating a series of holidays.
Dr. Stone’s chapter 148 was also delayed due to production issues at Shueisha. As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 21st issue of the Weekly Shonen Jump was postponed and released on 27th April as a combined 21st+22nd issue.
The Golden Week is a yearly occasion for the Japanese, which starts on 29th April and lasts around a week. During this time, multiple holidays are celebrated in succession, which includes Showa Day, Constitution Memorial Day, Greenery Day, and Children’s Day.
Chapter 148, titled “Pioneers of Earth,” shows the Kingdom of Science setting foot on the United States for the first time. They make their landing in San Francisco, where they find piles over piles of petrified human bodies.
They continue down Sacramento river, to Sacramento where Senku hopes to find a good supply of corn to start with.
As they travel down the river, Senku explains that the shifting of the Earth’s poles over 3700 years has caused seasons to get shifted.
This means an extra nine days for them to find corn before it starts to wither away.
They encounter some alligators on the way, which are swiftly killed by the muscle of the group (Tsukasa, Hyoga, Kohaku, etc.) and turned into delicious hamburgers by Francois.
The muscle team actually welcomed the attack with open arms as they had been longing for meat after their overseas journey.
The chapter ends with Tsukasa finding an ear of corn inside the alligator’s stomach, which confirms that there is a corn supply upstream.
