After petrification, Senku and Xeno were the ones who woke first. While Senku was busy dealing with the Ishigami village, Xeno had started building his own territory in the US with his subordinates.

So, why were Senku and Xeno the first ones to wake up? The answer starts with how Why-man chooses the species to undergo petrification. Only the most intelligent species are selected through their electromagnetic radiation waves.

The petrification is designed so that it’s easier to undo when more brainpower is used. So, naturally, the less intelligent individuals would be weeded out, and the genius ones would wake up.

According to Why-man, after waking up, the individuals would realize the potential of the devices and then crave eternal life. Thus, they would cultivate the Medusa themselves, and both the species would benefit equally.

Naturally, Senku and Xeno, who exceed the average human intelligence by far, woke up first. What went beyond Why-man’s calculations is that instead of receiving the devices as a blessing, humans would start treating them as villains.

Now that the intention of Why-man is clear, I hope it doesn’t drive a wedge between the science crew. The bait of ‘eternal life’ might divide their opinions.

Still, I think Senku will win the debate and make others see why death is necessary for the Earth to survive.
