Boichi, the artist behind Riichiro Inagaki’s Dr. Stone manga, is launching his new work soon. The announcement was made almost a year ago after the end of Dr. Stone and will be a part of a larger work.
On Wednesday, the 19th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine revealed that Boichi’s new work, titled SuperString: Isekai Kenbunroku will debut in the 21st issue, arriving on April 19. The story is written by In-Wan Youn.
SuperString: Isekai Kenbunroku was announced in June 2022 as an untitled SuperString project by Boichi and Youn. As per that, it is also planned for launch in the LINE manga app in mid-2023.
The South Korean webtoon series shows heroes from multiple dimensions coming together and fighting a war on Earth. Mankind is on the verge of destruction because Jupiter enters the inner orbit of the planet, also destroying Mars from its gravity.
Being a part of the company YLAB, SuperString has brought many characters from YLAB’s other works into one story and universe. The magazine describes the series as a hyperdimensional action series about Marco Polo.
A combination of space war and interdimensional exploration reminds me of series like Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, and Edens Zero. It is difficult to say how the manga will be, but the setting makes it look worth a try.
