Dororo is set in the world of demons and samurai. It focuses on a young boy who was born without any senses or limbs. He is on a quest to regain his humanity by defeating the demons who cursed him.
Although the series was originally released back in 1969, the 2019 Dororo remake did not fail to satisfy the fans of the Dark Fantasy genre. The dark and moody tones in a samurai setting barely left anything to be desired for the fans.
Fans of the series were excited after the announcement of the official dub back in March, and their patience has been rewarded.
The Dororo dub is set to be released on June 29 on Sentai Filmworks’ official website through Blu-ray and digital release.
They have also released a clip from the upcoming Dororo dub on their official Youtube channel.
The clip showcases Hyakkimaru defeating a demon in his signature stoic fashion, ripping his arms off to reveal his secret swords, and saving Dororo in the process. Dororo is fascinated by Hyakkimaru’s style, especially his ability to defeat the demon without even looking at him.
Sentai Filmworks has released the cast list for the upcoming dub:
Character | Cast | Other Works |
Dororo | Channey Moore | Fuyumi Mizuhara (Food Wars) |
Hyakkimaru | Adam Gibbs | Koshi Sugawara (Haikyu) |

The initial release of the anime was met with unanimous praise. Although a group of people were left dissatisfied by the ending, the anime was considered a hit as a whole.
It is hard to see why the dub would not be appreciated, especially when we get to hear Hyakkimaru’s quotes like- “Being alone is a power in itself” in English. Overall, the series will surely gain some new fans of the dark fantasy genre after the dub release.
