We get our first look at what’s to come in Doom Patrol Season 3 with a brand new trailer. The team of misfit superheroes will be back on HBO Max, September 23.
In Season 2, the squad had to work together to bring back the captured Chief, the one individual who tended to them and gave them a home to be themselves.
It was cut short abruptly due to the pandemic, which not only left us at a high of unresolved events including Dorothy summoning Candlemaker, but also got us wondering if the patrol would indeed be doomed with no more new seasons.
Thankfully, the reassurance of Season 3 that came in September 2020 is finally concrete in the form of a psychedelic trailer. Watch now:
Going by the trailer, the show will pick up right from the crumbling amusement park at the end of Season 2.
Through a series of unnamed voiceovers, we are given hints of the dangers to come, starting with the Chief (Timothy Dalton) saying, “There are mysterious things in this world that they’re keeping an eye on.”
Along with Lex Wang’s Candlemaker, this season will have an multiple adversaries, with Brain, his gorilla assistant Monsieur Mallah and Lady Rogue (Michelle Gomez) confirmed.
The trailer seems to be on a trip of its own and we’re unsure if any of the clips are actual footage from the coming season.
Like the folks in the trailer, we too ask, “What does it all mean?” Our questions may not be answered right away, but like its previous seasons, it delivers the promise of being out of this world.
Doom Patrol, started off as a Titans spin-off and premiered on DC Universe. Last year, the streaming service announced that it would now be an exclusive comic-book service hub only and would transfer all its video content to HBO Max, including Doom Patrol.
The show that boasts of cast members Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, Alan Tudyk, Matt Bomer, Brendan Fraser Timothy Dalton and Joivan Wade has been praised for its off the rails storytelling and visuals, not to forget — not a single complaint from fans. Now that’s something.
If you haven’t watched this underrated DC show yet, we recommend you do before Season 3 premiers on HBO Max, September 23.
