Just when you thought Covid had stopped affecting the anime industry, the virus surges again like a bad joke. This time, it has affected the staff members of the renowned anime studio, Doga Kobo.
It was recently announced that Studio Doga Kobo would be temporarily closed till April 17. Several staff members of the studio have contracted COVID-19. The virus had spread quite rapidly among them.
As a result, the studio is in a dilemma about the release date of the spring 2022 anime, Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie. The series was previously scheduled for April 2 release which later got shifted to April 9.
Given that the studio will remain closed, staff members are in quite a dilemma regarding the anime’s release schedule. Although the anime’s episode 1 is still set to debut on April 9, we can’t be sure about the later episodes.
Doga Kobo has made its name in the anime industry with series like Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun and more.
The studio is also producing the RPG Real Estate anime, which aired its first episode on April 6. There is a chance that it might suffer from delays as well.
The staff members are still discussing how to solve this problem, and I believe that they will come up with the best outcome possible.
I was looking forward to Shikimori, but the safety of the creators comes first, and I don’t think anyone would mind a delay if lives are on the line.
