The First Division captain of Toman, Keisuke Baji, is one of the powerhouses in Tokyo Revengers. Not only is he incredibly strong, but he also maintains a sense of stability and peace among all the gang members.
But things go downhill for Toman when Baji leaves the gang to join Valhalla. Takemichi tries his best to bring back Baji, because he knows Baji will die if he stays in Valhalla.
Takemichi saves Keisuke Baji in the final timeline by retconning his history with Kisaki Tetta. But for the anime viewers, Baji will remain dead until the final arc as Takemichi will continue to fall short of messing up Tetta’s evil plan.
Let’s take a deeper look at Baji’s apparent death in the anime and how Takemichi saves Baji from his death in the final timeline.
Baji betrays Toman in the 11th time leap
Prior to the 11th time leap, Takemichi discovers that Mikey killed Kazutora in the first timeline because he killed Baji. But Kisaki saves Mikey from getting arrested, which eventually makes Mikey trust him.
As a result, Mikey ends up becoming Kisaki’s puppet. Takemichi decides he needs to stop Kisaki’s plans in this timeline by saving Baji. He travels back in time again.
However, Takemichi learns that Baji has betrayed Toman and joined Valhalla instead. But he hasn’t betrayed Toman truly.
Chifuyu informs Takemichi that Baji is infiltrating Valhalla. He betrays Toman and joins Valhalla to spy on Kisaki and get rid of him if he betrays Toman. Just like Takemichi, Baji suspects that Kisaki might be involved in some kind of foul play.
Baji’s death in the 11th time leap
Takemichi and Chifuyu try their best to stop Baji from participating in Bloody Halloween in the 11th time leap. But they don’t succeed in persuading him.
Baji gets stabbed by Kazutora during the Valhalla arc during the 11th time leap. He stabs himself to save Kazutora and eventually dies from blood loss. His sacrifice stops Mikey from murdering Kazutora.
Baji’s sacrifice might seem useless since he doesn’t succeed in putting a wrench in Kisaki’s plans. In fact, Mikey starts trusting Kisaki even more. But this won’t be the last time we will see Baji.
He makes a comeback in the final timeline, just like other Toman members who dies in the earlier timelines.
How does Takemichi save Baji in the end?
After Baji actually dies in the first timeline, he isn’t revived for a while in the manga. But thankfully, Takemichi’s time-travel powers come to the rescue.
After the battle between Kanto Manji gang and Tokyo Manji gang, Takemichi and Mikey make a final time leap to their childhood to save everyone.
They befriend Kisaki as children and make him one of the founding members of Toman by establishing Toman with him.
Takemichi befriends Kisaki in his childhood and stops him from becoming evil, so the Valhalla gang ceases to exist in the final timeline. Consequently, Baji is revived because the Toman versus Valhalla battle never happens.
Mikey voluntarily dissolves Toman in 2006. After its dissolution, Baji starts working under Chifuyu’s vetting company called ‘Peke-J Land’, along with Kazutora.
He attends Takemichi’s wedding as well, and we even see him happily looking at the newlywed couple in the official art!
