She-Hulk Episode 2 Potentially Sets up World War Hulk

The ending of Episode 2 of She-Hulk showed Hulk traveling in the same spaceship he and Jen Walters encountered in Episode 1. He looks relaxed and doesn’t seem like he’s been kidnapped. But what does this mean?

She-Hulk Episode 2 potentially sets up the World War Hulk story in the MCU. However, the chances of a solo Hulk-centric movie are pretty low, considering the film wasn’t announced at Comic-Con, and MCU’s schedule looks pretty tight.

World War Hulk is one of the comic series’ most savage, action-packed storylines involving the character. In this, the green monster has been banished to the planet of Sakaar (which we saw in Ragnarok), where he becomes immensely powerful.

His journey begins on the lowest rung of the ladder. From here, he goes on to become a gladiator and then the king of the planet. However, during this time, he doesn’t forget what happened on Earth.

The Illuminati had earlier tricked him into going into space, and now, certain events involving them destroy his new home, Sakaar. In this catastrophe, Hulk loses his wife and his unborn child.

Fueled with rage, vengeance, and sheer madness, Hulk then wages war against the Illuminati and several other mighty superheroes from planet Earth. This is the gist of the epic tale.

In She-Hulk, we saw Hulk traveling in space aboard the ship he and Jen encountered in Episode 1. It was the same spaceship that we had seen in Thor: Ragnarok. Keeping these details in mind, fans speculate that this could lead to the World War Hulk storyline.

But, there are a few things that potentially discredit this theory. To begin with, the MCU rendition has been said to be in the works for quite some time. Quite recently, at Comic-Con, Kevin Feige announced the titles of several shows and films that would be a part of Phases 5 and 6.

There was no mention of World War Hulk or any Hulk-related title besides She-Hulk. This is concerning because the schedule for the MCU looks pretty tight, and it would be difficult to fit in a release as big as this amidst everything else that will be happening.

The second problem with this theory is that Hulk’s angry side has been left far behind in the MCU. He’s now either in his Bruce Banner or Smart Hulk avatar. Furthermore, he was in Sakaar way back in Ragnarok, so even if he is visiting now, it might not connect to the World War tale.

The MCU has altered several character histories, origin stories, and plots to build its own universe. It wouldn’t be a surprise if this story that fans have been waiting for never sees the light of the day. In fact, the films are already building towards the multiverse saga and the Secret Wars. So, adding another massive event film seems pretty unlikely.

Well, nothing is confirmed, so I guess we’ll know more as time passes. Maybe the next episode of She-Hulk streaming on Disney+ can give us some answers.
