“Five Enough” is a South Korean family drama series that aired in 2016 on KBS2. It is known for its wholesome storylines and realistic but entertaining depiction of South Korean joint families.
This television series focuses on 4 main couples and their families as they navigate through their complex relationships.
The main focus of the show is on Lee Sang-tae, a widower who has raised two children with the help of his parents-in-law, and Ahn Mi-jung, a mother of three children, who divorced her husband after finding out that he cheated on her with her best friend.
We watch them start believing in love again while also dealing with the complications that come with raising their combined five children together.
Besides them, the other couples in the show are Lee Yeon-tae and Kim Sang-min, Jang Jin-joo and Kim Tae-min, and Lee Ho-tae and Mo Soon-young.
The final episode of “Five Enough” aired on August 21, 2016. The series ends on a high note for all the characters and they get to live their ‘happily ever after’.
1. Do Lee Sang-tae and Ahn Mi-jung have a happy ending?
After meeting at their workplace, Lee Sang-tae and Ahn Mi-jung fall in love and get married to each other. Sang-tae gets promoted to Director of ‘Fantom’, the fashion corporation that they work for and Mi-jung becomes the Team Leader of the marketing team at ‘Fantom’.
Sang-tae’s children, Lee Soo and Lee Bin, and Mi-jung’s children, Yoon Woo-young, Yoon Woo-ri and Yoon Woo-joo, eventually get used to living together and they start accepting each other as family.
Sang-tae’s parents are delighted that Sang-tae was able to find love again. His in-laws also start bonding with their new grandchildren and start caring for Mi-jung like their own daughter.
Sang-tae and Mi-jung celebrate their first wedding anniversary towards the end of the last episode. The final shot is of the entire family of seven enjoying a camping trip as one big happy family.
2. Do Lee Yeon-tae and Kim Sang-min have a happy ending?
Lee Yeon-tae is Sang-tae’s younger sister and a shy elementary school teacher. Kim Sang-min min is a model turned professional golfer, who also happens to be Yeon-tae’s friend’s brother.
They meet when Yeon-tae gets drunk at a club and ends up in Sang-min’s car. The pair continue to meet each other coincidentally in awkward situations and eventually strike up a romance.
Yeon-tae and Sang-min get married in the final episode. Sang-min accepts an endorsement deal with Sang-tae and Mi-jung’s company, Fantom, and decides to get back into modelling. They both get their happy ending.
3. Do Jang Jin-joo and Kim Tae-min have a happy ending?
Kim Tae-min is Kim Sang-min’s younger brother and Yeon-tae’s friend from teacher training school. He teaches at the same elementary school as Yeon-tae. Jang Jin-joo is Sang-tae’s sister-in-law i.e. the sister of his deceased wife.
At first their romance seems like an unlikely one because Tae-min is a hardworking teacher struggling with his finances and Jin-joo is a college drop-out who likes to spend her parents’ money. But despite their differences, they become fond of each other.
At the end of the series, they decide to take their relationship slowly before deciding to jump into marriage. Their respective parents finally approve of their relationship.
Tae-min says he wants to focus on his career for a while so that he can support them both once they settle down together and Jin-joo decides to start her own nail art business. Their relationship is also a content one.
4. Do Lee Ho-tae and Mo Soon-young have a happy ending?
Lee Ho-tae is Sang-tae’s younger brother who wants to be a film director but unfortunately hasn’t had much luck with it. Mo Soon-young is a former dancer who now works at Ho-tae’s parents’ restaurant. She is also his first love.
The two meet again after a long time and realise that they still have feelings for each other. They get married by the end of the series and have a son too.
Ho-tae slowly starts getting opportunities to direct movies. This helps him win Best Director at the Asian Film Festival in the finale. He also accepts an offer to direct a television series which will pay him extremely well.
5. About Five Enough
Five Enough (also known as Five Children or Five Kids) is a 2016 South Korean family drama television series. It aired on KBS2 from February 20 to August 21, 2016, for 54 episodes. It was written by Jung Hyun-jung and Jung Ha-na and directed by Kim Jung-gyu.
The series stars Ahn Jae-wook, So Yoo-jin, Shim Hyung-tak, Shim Yi-young, Im Soo-hyang, Shin Hye-sun, Sung Hoon, and Ahn Woo-yeon.
The story is about four pairs of lovers and their families. The main couple is Lee Sang-tae, a widower with two children, and Ahn Mi-jung, a divorcee with three children. The show follows them as they fall in love, get married, and figure out how to raise all five of their children together while dealing with their overbearing parents.
The three other couples are Lee Yeon-tae and Kim sang-min, Jang Jin-joo, and Kim Tae-min, and Lee Ho-tae and Mo Soon-young.
