Dark Souls games are undoubtedly a wonderful action-adventure experience, but over the year, they have developed quite a bad rep for being extremely difficult. Forget the bosses, even the common enemies are adequately capable of besting you in a duel in Dark Souls series!
FromSoftware, the Souls game developers are renowned for making highly challenging games and not even allowing the players to lower the games’ difficulty!
Dark Souls games do not have an easy mode or difficulty settings like most of the other FromSoftware games. However, players can make them easier by using mods.
Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creative director, and executive of FromSoftware, explained why he does not prefer to keep the option of lowering the difficulty in his games during an interview with GameSpot.
We don’t want to include a difficulty selection because we want to bring everyone to the same level of enjoyment, so we want everyone first to face that challenge and overcome it in some way that suits them as a player.
Hidetaka Miyazaki
He added, “We want everyone to feel that sense of accomplishment. We feel if there’s different difficulties, that’s going to segment and fragment the user base.”
How to make Dark Souls easier?
Dark Souls can be made easier using various Mods available on NexusMods. Mods are software that allow players to modify the game’s parameters to cheat or create exciting scenarios.
I recommend installing Dark Souls 3 Infinite Possibilities MegaMule, and Dark Souls 2 Perfectionist mods. These mods do not tweak the game settings but provide you with a finished game’s custom saved files with every item and ability unlocked.
With these mods, you can create any build and use endgame equipment in the New Game+ mode, making the game easier than the vanilla version.
Which Souls game is the easiest?
The original Demon’s Souls, a soulsborne title, is considered the easiest Souls game compared to others because of its poor game balance.
The game allows players to stock up on a ridiculous amount of healing herbs, making it easier for the player to regenerate health repeatedly during a battle and outlast the enemy. The game’s AI is also easily exploitable.
Is Elden Ring easier than Dark Souls?
Elden Ring is almost as difficult as the Dark Souls games, but its open-world nature makes it more forgiving than the Souls game.
In Dark Souls, players are primarily crammed in narrow boss areas or dark corridors, making it extremely difficult to maneuver in a fight. Players cannot back away from a battle in dark Souls game as the locations close behind them. Additionally, they can’t invite their friends to support them in fights as the games are single player.
Elden Ring is quite different in this aspect. If you are locked in a challenging boss fight, you can just run away in any direction into the game’s vast open world. You can also use the game’s multiplayer to summon any of your friends and take down any boss together.
Thus, Elden Ring gives a lot of liberties to the players in terms of how they wish to approach the game.
How long does it take to 100% all Dark Souls games?
To finish just the story of Dark Souls, you’ll require roughly around 42 hours. Playing the main story and some of the bigger side quests will take you around 60 hours, while a completionist run of the game will take you as long as 105 hours.
Dark Souls 2 is slightly longer than the first part. It takes about 44 hours to complete its main storyline. Finishing the major side quests with the story will take around 63 hours, and a completionist run takes about 121 hours.
Finally, Dark Souls 3, the shortest in the trilogy, takes only about 32 hours for the main storyline, 47 hours for the side quests, and 97 hours for a completionist run.
About Demon’s Souls
Demon’s Souls is an action role-playing game that was first released back in 2009 and is now getting a makeover from game developing company, Bluepoint Games.
The plot of the game revolves around the fallen kingdom of Boletaria which is devoured by a dark entity known as the Old One. Fog of despair and grief surrounds Boletaria, a once-great land, which now habitats bloodthirsty demons.
