Does Control have New Game Plus in PS4 & PS5? Post-Completion Guide

Remedy Entertainment’s recent offbeat adventure, Control, took gamers by storm with its release in 2019. The game received marvelous reviews for being a technological wonder and aesthetic achievement.

If you’re looking to purchase the game, it’s best to know as little as possible about the crux of Control to preserve the element of surprise. But those who have already played the game know it’s Remedy Entertainment’s best game, as it retains everything good about Quantum Break while eliminating its live-action rubble.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned Control player, spending huge bucks on a game forces you to consider its replayability. Since Control lacks multiple difficulty settings, players’ only shot at replayability depends on the presence of New Game Plus.

Unfortunately, Control does not have New Game Plus. The Director of Remedy Entertainment, Thomas Puha, stated that the highly requested feature wouldn’t feature in the game due to game design constraints, technical difficulties, and limited resources of the development team.

Although this news is a bitter disappointment to most players, the developers have implemented several other exciting features, including the trendy Photo Mode, post-launch. Hence, even without New Game Plus, Control is a brilliant third-person title that most of you will replay due to its beautiful scenery and fun gameplay.

Here’s more about the post-game content in Control and what happens when you start a new game.

Final Cutscene in Control

Like most RPGs, Control does have post-game. To enter the post-game in Control, you must complete the main story by finishing all ten main missions. Once you beat the final mission, Take Control, you’ll unlock a couple of outfits and realize there is still much work and adventure ahead of Jesse, making your way into the endgame.

To beat the final mission, Take Control, players must perform their duties in the office, learn to escape the alternate version of the bureau, reach Dylan, and wake him up.

Upon defeating all the enemies and creating a path to Dylan, you receive a few items, the end credits roll, and you truly become the Director of the FBC. Subsequently, your character will return to the office, where you can continue to explore, engage in side missions, gather collectibles, and begin extended post-game content like DLCs.

You receive the following items after completing the main plot in Control.

  • Office Assistant Outfit
  • Director Outfit
  • Multimedia: The Future
  • Multimedia: Endless Grind
  • Case Files: Slide Projector
  • Research and Records: Director Faden Photograph

Yes, players can continue to play Control after completing its main plot. The end credits scene rolls after successfully finishing the main missions, and players enter post-game. In post-game, you can continue exploring the office and participate in all aspects of the game apart from the main missions.

Like most open-world games, Control’s main story content is significantly smaller than its side content. As a result, it could be confusing for you to figure out what to do after completing the game. Nevertheless, the next section will relieve you of your confusion!

Post-Launch Road Map of Control

There are various things for you to do after beating the main story in Control. Players can participate in the 19 side missions, explore the 14 hidden locations, gather collectibles like Research Documents, Dossiers, Correspondence, Multimedia, and Special Lines, and start DLCs.

Furthermore, players can hunt down and battle the optional bosses, such as Former, The Anchor, esseJ, and Mold-1. In addition, you can also finish off the Hiss during Bureau Alerts, which is an excellent opportunity to quench the thirst for heated action. Apart from looking for the above-mentioned items, you can also search for hidden outfits spread throughout the game.

Basically, players can focus on everything they missed out on while focusing on the main campaign in Control. To add to the thrill of experiencing endgame content, Remedy Entertainment offers a couple of DLCs: The Foundation and AWE. These extended post-game contents should keep players busy for a reasonable time!

What happens when you start a new game in Control?

Starting a New Game in Control

When you start a new game in Control, the game will ask you to overwrite the previously saved game file, as it only allows the storage of a single saved game at a time. So, if players are already amidst a campaign and wish to start a new game, they will have to lose all the progress from the latter.

Moreover, since there is no New Game Plus in Control, sadly, there’s no direct way to retain progress and replay the game against more evolved enemies.

Nonetheless, to avoid losing your progress, you can create a copy of the saved game file on an external storage device, such as a USB. So, if you decide against starting a new game in Control, you can simply plug in the storage device and continue playing the game with saved progress.
