Tokyo Revengers has ended season 1 spectacularly with the final episode leaving fans horrified, shocked and aching to get their hands on the manga.
After we’d just recovered from the events of Bloody Halloween and the grief from losing our favorite mama’s boy, aka First Division Captain Baji, we’d expected the series to maybe cut us a break for a while. Sadly it seems Wakui-sensei isn’t the forgiving type.
Chifuyu dies in the present timeline after Bloody Halloween when Kisaki shoots him in the head at the end of episode 24. Kazutora saves Takemichi, and Naoto later reveals that Kisaki killed Chifuyu because he had proof to convict Kisaki of murdering Hina.
Why Was Chifuyu Killed?
Chifuyu wanted to save the corrupted Toman by getting rid of Kisaki, so he had secretly recorded video evidence that proved Kisaki had a hand in Hina’s death. This forced Kisaki to kill Chifuyu.
Following the events of Bloody Halloween and Takemichi taking Baji’s place as the First Division Captain, Takemichi returns to the present in episode 24 to find himself in an influential position within the present Toman as one of its managers with Chifuyu as his partner.
Later that evening, Takemichi joined the other gang managers for dinner, where he found out Toman had a snitch among them who was supplying information to the police.
Takemichi and Chifuyu later joined Kisaki for a drink, who appeared to have changed at first but turned out to be a facade as Takemichi lost consciousness and realized Kisaki spiked their drink. When they came to, Kisaki revealed Chifuyu was the mole supplying the police with information with the hope of getting Kisaki out of the now corrupt Toman.
In chapter 74, after Kazutora saved Takemichi, he revealed that the Tokyo Manji Gang had indeed become corrupt as ever in the current timeline involving themselves in every imaginable crime. He also divulged that Chifuyu had visited him when he was released from prison nearly two years ago, and confided that Toman was starting to go wrong and was becoming a dangerous criminal organization not even the police could touch.
Chifuyu and Kazutora vowed to return the gang to its former self and kept their promise well. Kazutora later revealed in chapter 75 that while he worked to cut off the ex-Black Dragon members’ cash flow, Chifuyu had worked to get rid of Kisaki, believing that getting rid of these two factors would save Mikey, who had now turned evil.
In chapter 76, Naoto explained that Chifuyu had gathered video evidence that Kisaki had ordered Hina’s murder, driving Kisaki into a corner. He’d secretly recorded Takemichi giving Atsushi orders to get rid of a thorn in Toman’s side, unaware that the person was Hina and Kisaki was manipulating him. Chifuyu was in touch with Naoto but didn’t give him the videos to protect Takemichi.
