The John Wick franchise has one of the best action sequences, and the Keanu Reeves starrer boasts a vast and ever-increasing fandom. John Wick: Chapter Four has just been released on March 24, 2023, and I can still feel the after-effects of the globe-trotting spy thriller.
As part of a highly successful franchise, much like its contemporaries, the movie had a post-credit scene that teased a major suspense for a future storyline. Alert though! In the post-credits scene of John Wick: Chapter Four, Akira seems to be about to attack Caine, her father’s killer. However, the scene ends, leaving the consequences of the attack in suspense. Thus, Caine is not shown to die in the movie; however, his death at Akira’s hands is possible.

John Wick: Chapter Four does have a post-credits scene, like several other movies of successful franchises nowadays. It teases a future for the franchise that could continue with sequels (but without its titular character) and/or with spinoffs.
The latest movie of the John Wick franchise has a brief post-credits scene that indicates a plausible future plotline for the franchise after John Wick’s death. Featuring Caine and Akira, it brings importance to the characters, hinting at prime roles for them in future movies or spinoff series like Ballerina and The Continental.
John Wick: Chapter Four post-credits scene explained
The post-credits of John Wick: Chapter Four featured Akira, daughter of the Osaka Continental’s manager, about to attack Caine in the streets, presumably in revenge for her father’s murder. It hints at a possible future for the franchise with essential roles for Caine and/or Akira.
The post-credits scene of John Wick 4 begins with Caine, a blind High Table assassin and John Wick’s old friend, walking alone on the streets to reunite with his daughter after John’s burial. However, he is approached by a figure revealed to be Akira, the daughter of the Osaka Continental manager and also its concierge. She pulls out her weapon, and it looks like she is avenging Koji, her father, as the former murdered him at the start of the movie.
The scene ends there, putting the outcome of the attempt in suspense. However, there is a conflict between the two characters, which could be explored further in future series or movies of the franchise. In the film, Caine, played by Donnie Yen, and Akira, played by Rina Sawayama, are secondary characters. But, the end-credit scene implies greater importance to these characters and their stories in the future.
Akira could appear in the female-led Ballerina and be a great addition to the female-centric and empowering series. She could also take up her father’s role as the manager of the Osaka Continental and make an appearance in The Continental series that way. A John Wick 5 featuring her and even Caine could also be in the ideas. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
