Will Doctor Strange Become Sorcerer Supreme In Multiverse of Madness?

Avada Kedav- no? oops, not that sorcerer.

Now that the ‘multiverse of madness’ has officially been unleashed by our very own Goddess of Mischief, Sylvie, the whole MCU has been shaken to its core. Things will change, stories will change.

According to writer Michael Waldron, fans are in for a ‘hell of a ride’ with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Loki and Doctor Strange 2 writer told the Geek Vibes Podcast about how the sequel will differ from the first film. (via ComicBook)

I think that Stephen Strange has been through so much between that first movie and now. That first movie was an incredible origin story of how he became a sorcerer, but now he’s been through that. He’s fought Thanos, and he’s on the other end of it, and he’s kind of at the height of his powers. So it’s an interesting place to catch up with him.

Waldron also talked about working with director Sam Raimi on the sequel,

That was the experience of a lifetime. We had a great time writing and developing that movie last year and then shooting it over in London at the end of last year and the top of this year. It was great. Sam’s an incredible director [and] the cast is unreal on that movie. So it’s a hell of a ride.

Recently Elizabeth Olsen compared the sequel to ‘old Sam Raimi’ projects, calling it the scariest Marvel movie.

Before Doctor Strange 2, we’ll get a taste of the multiverse in Spider-Man: No Way Home. And a new photo has surfaced online, revealing a connection between the two films.

The picture posted by @3CFilm on Twitter shows Peter Parker face to face with Doctor Strange in front of 177A Bleecker Street, i.e., the Sorcerer Supreme’s Sanctum Sanctorum.

With the Disney+ series What if…? exploring an alternate reality/timeline and Spider-Man: No Way Home diving into the Spidey-verse, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness isn’t far behind on the action. Phase 4 is all about expanding the MCU in every way it can be expanded.

Set after the events of WandaVision and Loki, the Doctor Strange sequel will see sorcerer Stephen Strange and Scarlet Witch as they tackle whatever chaos that the multiverse has unleashed.

The sequel will have a whole entourage including Wong and introducing the dimension-hopping America Chavez.

The cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Xochitl Gomez (with a rumored appearance by Tom Hiddleston’s Loki).

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to open in theaters on March 25, 2022.
