Marvel Studios is warming up for the biggest MCU event of the year as the release date for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness inches closer.
As fans eagerly wait for the multiverse to unleash with all its might, Marvel has revealed the newest Funko pops collection for the highly-anticipated sequel, which also marks the company’s 1,000th Funko.
To celebrate this special milestone, Doctor Strange got a unique makeover. Strange has received an interdimensional blue Chase Limited Edition variant that fans can win with a 1 in 6 chance instead of the standard variant.
Funko Pops:
It’s raining Strange variants! The pops are evidence that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Doctor Strange as other versions include Defender Strange and Supreme Strange.
The Supreme Strange Funko Pop has the exact same look and outfit as the statue seen in the main trailer. Some fans had confused the life-size statue for Defender Strange, but it looks like the new toy settles it.
Supreme Strange’s figurine is clean-shaven as opposed to the other two and has a blue and silver costume. Although Sinister Strange and Zombie Strange were teased in the trailers and teasers, they’re yet to receive their own pops.
Other new Funkos include Wong, America Chavez, Master Mordo, Christine Palmer, Scarlet Witch, Rintrah, and Sara.
Rintrah the Minotaur was teased in the official trailer, so it’s no surprise he got his own toy too. However, Sara is the newest mystery character that has everyone intrigued.
As Sara’s pop was the very first reveal for the character, fans were left wondering who she was. We know she will be a key player if she’s got her own Funko, wearing a uniform similar to those worn by the Masters of the Mystic Arts.
If you google the character, the first and most obvious guess would be Doctor Strange’s secretary, Sara Wolfe, who was a love interest of Wong in the comics.
However, as it’s going to be a multiversal war, there’ll hardly be any time for romance, and given that Wolfe isn’t a Master of the Mystic Arts in the comics, this option seems less viable.
Another character who has a high chance of being the “correct” Sara is Baroness Sara Mordo, Karl Mordo’s mother in the comics. Although she only appeared in a few issues, she was familiar with magical practices.
Marvel revealed that the new Funkos will be available for pre-order soon, so you ought to be on the lookout to grab one in time. After all, it’d be quite a hassle to open multiversal portals just to steal one from other universes.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set for a theatrical release on May 6, 2022.
