I know we’re supposed to revel at any and all Spider-Man: No Way Home updates, but the villain posters are a little bit of a let down.
Plus, poor Lizard and Sandman don’t even get a poster of their own! (Maybe a separate release closer to the movie?)
The posters give us a close-up of Doc Ock, Green Goblin and Electro, all facing Spider-Man. Now I don’t know about you, but that slab of red on the right side is quite distracting. See for yourself:
The three posters once again verify at least three of the antagonists we will see in NWH.
With another confirmation that Electro has Stark tech iron reactor, his poster fares the best among the three (really, his whole reboot is god-gifted). But fans are not too happy about how airbrushed Alfred Molina’s face is.
Adding to which, Willem Defoe’s face is still masked. Makes me think, should we be adding Defoe’s name alongside the question of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield appearing in the movie?
Defoe was rumored to be in the capacity of a voice role only. Our only reassurance of his involvement is through his iconic dialogue in NWH trailers.
It’s fair to be disappointed, especially if compared to the villains original posters in the Raimi and Webb movies.
This is not the first fault fans have found in the No Way Home posters. While the official posters look great, a few of the other promotional works looked offbeat, especially with regards to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Strange.
Not only have fans pointed that Strange’s face looks weird, his figure just seems plucked from one stock image and planted everywhere.
Here’s one example:
Despite it all, I’m sure the posters won’t deter both MCU fanatics and general fans who have been waiting months, if not years, for this movie. See them flock to theatres, no matter what the posters are like.
