Paige’s return in the 100th episode of “Young Sheldon” further triggered many more doubts regarding her future and whether she will appear again in the show.
Let’s dive into these questions and clear all your doubts.
Does Sheldon ever see Paige again? Does Paige return to Young Sheldon?
Paige is confirmed to return in “Young Sheldon” Season 6, and it will continue the big change in her character arc.
Paige has appeared sporadically on the series in the last seven years after being introduced in “Young Sheldon” Season 2. While she is as smart as Sheldon. Paige has the social ability that the boy genius lacks. She is much better at adjusting and being self-aware as compared to Sheldon.
Unfortunately, we saw things change for the worse for her when her parents split up. Paige’s potential reunion with Sheldon indicates the continuation of her downward spiral which is deemed to worsen in “Young Sheldon” Season 6.
While “Young Sheldon” Season 6 was on hiatus, Iain Armitage shared an image of him and Paige actress, McKenna Grace hanging out hinting more at her return. While they were careful not to share any detail that will reveal any spoilers, Grace’s costume stands out.
It’s less conservative than the last time she was on the show and suggests that the show is continuing her rebellious streak. It’s almost reminiscent of her look when she was intentionally acting up.
It seems probable that instead of addressing her woes, Paige decides to just mask them by continuing to rebel.
The shake-up in Paige’s household for which blamed herself was the main reason for the change in her demeanor. Her re-emergence in the 100th episode of “Young Sheldon” indicated that she was more stressed and just downright defeated.
Sheldon and Paige’s Relationship Explained
Paige and Sheldon have had a rocky, on-and-off relationship throughout the 6 seasons of Young Sheldon.
When Paige first appeared in the series, she was Sheldon’s rival and she later becomes friends with Missy much to his annoyance. Paige returned in Season 5.
She struggled to settle in the University of Texas and seeing Sheldon thriving at East Texas Tech made it worse for her.
This led Sheldon’s fellow child prodigy to do some soul-searching. She realized that she was sacrificing her adolescence for academic progress while Sheldon was seemingly able to have both.
In the end, she decided to drop out of school and even attempted to run away. Although she changed her mind and returned home, “Young Sheldon” never gave any indication that she and her family were planning to address her issues.
Why Paige Never Appeared On The Big Bang Theory?
Paige never appeared on “The Big Bang Theory”- she was never even mentioned in the show. This seems surprising considering the role she played in Sheldon’s childhood.
Considering their history, fans often speculate as to whether Paige could have been Sheldon’s partner instead of Amy. “Young Sheldon” has yet to offer a reason why the socially-inept genius never talked about Paige on “The Big Bang Theory” given his penchant for sharing childhood anecdotes.
There are a couple of possible explanations for this, however. Firstly, we all know Sheldon. He may have not wanted to share that there was someone who was arguably smarter than him back in Texas. This surely fits his personality, not wanting anyone to know in Pasadena that he had a childhood rival.
Secondly, there is a chance that Paige’s story is about to get worse on “Young Sheldon”. Sheldon didn’t want to discuss it on “The Big Bang Theory” as it would only bring up bad memories.
Fans are surely waiting to see more of Paige and hopefully, Season 6 will ensure her story gets a decent closure.
