Ryan Reynolds is having a blast as he confirmed in a tweet that Guy will return for a sequel of his latest film Free Guy. However, that’s the only thing we know about the sequel as of now.
Aaaannnnd after 3 years messaging as an original IP movie, Disney confirmed today they officially want a sequel,” wrote the actor on Twitter. “Woo hoo!! #irony.

20th Century Studios retweeted it, and to confirm Reynolds wasn’t joking, director Shawn Levy replied with, “Yuuuuuuuup.”
Free Guy is an action-adventure comedy, and Reynolds plays a non-player character (NPC) who becomes self-aware that he’s in a video game. The film was among the major titles of 2020 that were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The film was released earlier this week with a $25M-plus opening at the box office. This basically guaranteed a sequel, and 20th Century and Disney are wasting no time expanding it into a family-friendly PG-13 franchise.
Director Levy is known for Night at the Museum, Date Night, The Internship, among others. Free Guy is written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn and also stars Taika Waititi, Jodie Comer, and Joe Keery.
But the question now that’s what will Guy do outside Free City as it wouldn’t really make sense to follow up with just a different version of the first film.
Reynolds almost never disappoints (*ahem* Green Lantern *ahem*) it would be interesting to see where Guy goes next.
Free Guy is currently out in theatres everywhere.
