One of the famous Christmas classics of the holiday-comedy genre, The Santa Clause film series gave audiences a memorable Tim Allen performance that adorned the screens with our favorite man in red since its release.
After it acquired Fox’s assets, Disney renewed many forgotten classics, including The Santa Clause films. The Santa Clauses serves as a sequel and continuation to the film series and sees the legendary Tim Allen’s return in Scott’s shoes. But now we have some shocking news about how the Disney+ series came to be.
According to Deadline, Burditt believes Disney “played” the creator and the returning actor into doing the show by telling them “The other was on board” before either one of them agreed to come on board.
I heard that at some point, Tim was told, “Hey, Jack Burditt has this idea to do Santa Clause as a series. And he was like, “Really?” I don’t quite know the timeline, but Disney might have played Tim and me. I mean, each of us hearing the other was on board before either of us was actually on board? That’s Hollywood.
Burditt and Allen almost worked together in 2011, and Disney used that connection to get them to agree to do the show. Even though Allen planned to retire and get away from Hollywood life, he came back hearing of Burditt’s involvement, which does seem like a trick.
But despite the method to get them there, Burditt believes Disney’s gamble paid off since the show aired to an appreciative audience as Allen made his nostalgic return on November 16, 2022.
The show’s premise surrounds Scott’s search for his replacement, after his children denied taking up the North Pole and its legacy, and hand over the reins before moving on to a quieter adventure.
The miniseries consisting of six episodes premiered on Disney+ with two episodes on November 16, 2022, and will dictate the fate of season 2 even if Allen weren’t to return.
